CDL Delivery Driver
The Delivery Driver (with CDL) is responsible for the safe, timely delivery and service of all products sold within assigned route and to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle to reach all customer locations. The Delivery Driver must understand all company policies and procedures of said delivery. Delivery Drivers generally operate as one-person units. This is a salary exempt position that is not subject to overtime calculations and can average 40-50 hours per week. For DOT tracking purposes, this employee reports hours in Time & Attendance Systems (time clock). This position reports directly to the Delivery Manager.
Primary Objectives & Essential Functions:
- Vehicle & DOT Requirements
- Pre-& Post Trips Filled Out Each Day
- Check Load Security / Verify Inventory / Check Equipment (Pallet Jacks and Sleds)
- Follow Safety Policies and Procedures
- Follow all Check-In and Check-Out Policies and Procedures
- Maintain clean truck and trailer
Delivery Functions- Follow Route Sequence
- Deliver and Rotate ALL Product
- Pick Up Empties, Damages & OOC Product
- Communicate delivery issues with Sales Rep where needed.
- Execute Invoice and Payment transaction procedures
- Follow Policy and Procedure for Refusal/Undelivered Stops
- Pack Out as Directed
- End of Day procedure including but not limited to proving A/R, Inventory, handling of out of date product etc.
- Reviewing orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, the charges are correct, and the customer is satisfied.
Load Detail Responsibilities- Leveling product during day
- Minimize Breakage
The Delivery Driver assumes other responsibilities as assigned by Delivery Manager, Delivery Assistants, VPs, Branch Manager and ownership. These responsibilities and objectives include but are not limited to:
- Attendance Expectations
- Appearance
- Professionalism
- Retailer Satisfaction Performance (SSM)
- All other duties as assigned.
Development of Delivery Drivers
- Participates in company and team meetings and attends other meetings as required.
- Continued education programs when necessary.

Deliver Driver Requirements
- He/she must possess an effective ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with internal and external customers.
- Maintain a smartphone with data plan capable of operating delivery software
- Broad knowledge of company objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal & customer service skills.
- Ability to read and understand merchandise pricing and invoicing.
- Excellent computer skills in all applicable programs.
- The Delivery Driver Person must demonstrate the ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Required to possess and maintain a commercial (Class A) Driver License in accordance with DOT regulations for operating of the delivery vehicle. Driving record must remain free of significant violations and meet company policies and standards. All Delivery Drivers are required to attend Driver Safety Courses.
- Delivery Drivers are required to possess and maintain a ABC Permit for the purpose of peddling alcoholic products where necessary.
Education and Experience
- 3-5 years of experience with material delivery or distribution.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent

These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Delivery Driver job. While performing the responsibilities of the Delivery Driver job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is required to lift a minimum weight of 50 pounds repeatedly through the course of the day. In addition, they are required to functionally lift and maneuver up to 165 pounds. with the assistance of a hand truck or lifting implement. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision

While performing the duties of this job in the internal and external environment, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. While performing duties of this job in the field environment, the employee will be exposed on a regular basis to moving mechanical parts, motor vehicles and traffic. In addition, the exposure while in customer locations cannot be projected. These conditions may vary, and the employee will receive adequate training to recognize and avoid hazards that cannot be described as expected. Noise levels will range from quiet to loud.
