Job description
The Site Security Controller position sits within the Defence Digital Security, Resilience and Information Team and oversees the implementation of physical and personnel security policy, in accordance with MOD mandated security policy.
This position is responsible for providing advice and guidance to all personnel when required about all matters relating to physical and personnel security and manages a team which includes staff specialising in Crypto, IT Security, Personnel Vetting and site access. The site is very busy and there are ongoing infrastructure projects which also require security expertise input. Additionally, there is an expectation that this post will offer resilience support to the counterpart on our nearby Crown Hosted site. The post holder will need to build working relationships with MOD Police, MOD Guard Service, military, civilian, contractors and Crown Hosting.

Person specification
The Site Security Controller position leads on:
- Providing advice on physical, personnel, information and asset security for DD establishments, facilities, and operations adhering to relevant Joint Services Publications, Site Administration and Operation Procedures and Cabinet Office Policy Framework.
- Being the focal point of contact for all security matters within MOD Corsham and lodger sites, including physical, personnel, information and asset security.
Draft and Implement Security Policies, Standing Orders and Security Operating Procedures abiding by Cabinet Office Security Framework Policy.
Providing day to day management of the security risks for the site and lodger sites.
Day to day maintenance of the MOD Police and MOD Guard Service as site-needs change.
Leading the management of investigations into security breaches, incidents, and near misses and to ensure that lessons are learnt and improvements made.
Understanding of Crypto services and Communication Information Systems.
Leading, delivering and fostering a strong security culture across DD, which values, protects, and enables DD through audit, education, awareness.
Chairing the Security Working Group with relevant Branch Security Officers
Managing the accredited means of asset movement via Defence Courier Service.
- Liaise with Operation Teams with regards to security matters across different areas within the site.
- Support the Defence Digital STRAPSO responsible for ensuring all staff who have access to this classified information and assets are cleared to do so and the building/offices used comply with all mandatory policy requirements.
Initiate Security inspections and audits for security services we deliver, to include Secret assets/registers and support external security risk audits. You would also support audits of other locations who come under your area of responsibility across the UK.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station which is based on business assessment of where the work is best done) and working from home as a personal choice (if the role is suitable for this). If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
During the first 3 months there is an expectation for successful candidates to attend the office for circa 4 days per week. This is required to enable the team to train, mentor, coach and support the individual.
