Position Summary

The Dean of Institutional Effectiveness directs the development and implementation of a comprehensive program to enhance the institutional effectiveness of the college, including annual planning, assessment, evaluation, and budgeting. The Dean of Institutional Effectiveness will also provide institutional data for decision making, planning, and internal and external compliance.


Salary:
Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule B: $97,017 – $133,982

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements program/unit reviews; works collaboratively with faculty and staff on the program review process.
  • Directs the collection, analysis, and reporting of assessment data through surveys of students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders; communicates the purposes and intents of institutional assessment plans.
  • Works with units across the college to develop surveys and assessment instruments.
  • Provide training to department staff on the effective use of survey software and assessment instruments.
  • Assumes responsibilities for keeping the college in compliance with SACSCOC institutional effectiveness criteria.
  • Supervises and directs assigned staff.
  • Analyzes findings from assessment data and makes recommendations to college administration to enhance program outcomes and/or departmental services.
  • Develops and deliver annual college-wide surveys.
  • Conduct, analyze and evaluate labor market information to assist the college in coordinating programmatic offerings with local business and industry needs.
  • Performs other Planning and Research duties related to assessment and evaluation.
  • Guides and oversees the mission, responsibility, and goals of the College by coordinating efforts of the Strategic Planning Committee and serves as the chairperson of Planning Council.
  • Oversees the design and dissemination of College-adopted accountability measures and assures coordination of these measures with planning and accrediting activities.
  • Assumes responsibilities for Perkins reporting and budgeting for Career and Technical Education.
  • Develops and/or revises institutional policies related to institutional effectiveness, and special projects.
  • Ensures institutional policies are reviewed and updated to maintain compliance with ACCS and other agency policies, rules and regulations.
  • Conducts special projects at the direction of the President.
  • Oversee training and professional development for both faculty and staff.
  • Serves on appropriate committees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited institution required in a teaching discipline or in institutional research is required. Doctoral degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five years full-time experience in higher education administration at the community college level is required. Experience with SACS Self-Study and accreditation standards is highly preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments
  • Knowledge of practices, theories and concepts relating to developing and assessing surveys;
  • Knowledge of administration of higher education institution and accreditation requirement and guidelines;
  • Knowledge of basic statistical theories and principles;
  • Proficiency with online survey software;
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret and present data;
  • Ability to work effectively with people of varying levels of education and diverse backgrounds;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Strong communication skills, particularly listening skills;
  • Supervisory and leadership skills;
  • Ability to read, interpret and explain policies and procedures;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees, and the public in a pleasant and effective manner;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information;
  • Ability to work and communicate with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds including students, parents, college employees, and the public;

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.
