A Day/ Night Care Assistant to work full time and be available to cover shifts.
Day rate - £10.53
Night rate - £11.35
Minimum 35 hours per week
JOB DESCRIPTION FOR DAY CARE ASSISTANT
RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Care/Registered Manager
PURPOSE OF POSITION
To share with other staff in meeting the individual care needs of each resident in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence. To help in the care of the residents’ physical, environmental and in the general day-to-day activities of the Home. To take delegated responsibilities in the charge of the Residents under your care, to the appropriate level. To assist in providing a happy and caring atmosphere and be involved in the general activities of the Home.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist clients who need help with washing, dressing, undressing, bathing and toileting.
2. Help clients with mobility problems and other physical disabilities such as incontinence; help in the care and making the best use of aids and personal equipment, providing comfort with dignity.
3. Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of clients through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies, shopping and recreations.
4. Make and change beds, tidy rooms and do light cleaning.
5. Inspect, launder and mend clients’ clothing.
6. Cook and serve meals, wash up utensils. (Kitchen staff are employed for all major cooking and washing requirements. This duty relates to emergencies, pre-prepared meals or light snacks requested by residents out of hours.)
7. Lay tables and trays, serve meals and assist residents at meal times if required, clear and tidy dining room.
8. Answer emergency bells, the door and the telephone and act on accordingly.
9. Greet visitors cordially, offer refreshment and attend to reasonable requests with regard to their relationship with the resident and offer any information where appropriate.
10. Read and write reports in case notes.
11. Take part in staff and client meetings and also in training activities as required.
12. Administer medication as listed in residents’ records using the care quality Pharmacy medication blister packs and policies and procedures in place.
13. Care for residents’ who are temporarily unwell.
14. Help care for residents’ who are dying.
15. Observe the Home’s Health and Safety Policy at all times.
16. Carry out duties with regard to Home Fire Regulations policy.
17. In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the jobholder is required to perform other duties assigned by the supervisor/manager from time to time.
Emergency staff cover is a requirement of the role. In the unlikely event that emergency cover is required this extension/ additional shift is paid at the normal rate.
JOB DESCRIPTION FOR NIGHT CARE ASISTANT
RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Care/ Registered Manager
PURPOSE OF POSITION
· To provide or assist in wakeful night duty cover in the Home.
· To undertake certain domestic duties which can be performed during the night hours.
· To be appointed “person in charge” in the absence of Senior staff.
· To share with other staff in meeting the individual care needs of each resident in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence.
· To take delegated responsibilities in the charge of the Residents under your care, to the appropriate level.
· To operate emergency cover procedures when necessary.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Carry out regular checks around the Home at intervals.
2. Carry out regular checks on the building with special reference to fire protection.
3. Answer emergency bells, assess the situation, deal with the client seeking help or call upon the Duty Person if required.
4. Assist clients who need help with personal care, reassurance or comfort.
5. Administering medication (after 9.30pm)
6. Operate equipment to suit the Residents requirements relating to the moving & handling policy.
7. Assist clients preparing for bed and waking in the morning as required.
8. Assist clients who need help with washing, dressing, undressing, bathing and toileting.
9. Help clients with mobility problems and other physical disabilities such as incontinence; help in the care and making the best use of aids and personal equipment, providing comfort with dignity.
10. In the time between attending to clients, undertake domestic duties primarily in the fields of laundry and ironing, or cleaning as directed.
11. Read and write reports in Residents case notes.
12. Take part in staff and client meetings and also in training activities as required.
13. Administer medication as listed in residents’ records using Care Quality Pharmacy medication blister packs and policies and procedures in place. To take full responsibility for this if appointed “person in charge” as above.
14. Care for residents’ who are temporarily unwell.
15. Help care for residents’ who are dying.
16. Observe the Home’s Health and Safety Policy at all times.
17. In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the jobholder is required to perform other duties assigned by the supervisor/Manager from time to time.
