We are looking for a passionate Data Warehousing Engineer to join the Holland & Barrett Data Warehousing team. You will be responsible for building and scaling data environment. You will be part of the broader H&B Data & Analytics organisation, working alongside the Data Engineering, BI, Data Science and Product Analytics teams. Together with Data Warehousing team, you will integrate and ingest numerous raw data sources such as sales, supply chain and clickstream data. You will develop H&B data warehouse and own the implementation of all required operational data models using an ELT approach. In addition, you will be responsible for implementing and operationalising a number of data models enabling important applications such as BI reporting, marketing automation, customer segmentation and content personalisation.
You will use state-of-the-art technology and tools, absorbing best practices from our big data playbook. Your day-to-day development will take place in Amazon Redshift (using Matillion for ELT orchestration) and the broader AWS ecosystem. As part of your role, you need to be an absolute SQL and data modelling rockstar and have strong track record of managing and scaling large cloud data warehousing environments. The successful Data Warehousing Engineerwill come from a strong quantitative background and be self-motivated to drive the H&B technicaldata agenda. Building on strong communication skills, you will help to define the vision, culture and operating model of the H&B data warehousing team. In addition, you will work closely with product, tech and business teams across H&B to identify, spec and deliver the required technical projects.
The Role
- Integrate all required raw data sources
- Build and scale H&B data warehouse in Amazon Redshift
- Build required data applications and services
- Build data cubes for BI reporting
- Design, build and maintain complex ELT workflows
- Write world-class SQL
- Monitor data stack and be responsible for system health
- Help and mentor more junior colleagues
- Be an integrated part of the D&A organisation and contribute to its strategy and vision
- Work closely with H&B product and tech teams on diverse data projects
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering / Computer Science or related technical field from a leading university
- 3+ years of experience transforming sizable data sets into world-class analytics & business intelligence solutions, preferably in an e-commerce environment
- Highly advanced SQL skills
- Experienced with cloud data warehouses (AWS Redshift preferred)
- Strong experience with one or more programming languages (Python preferred)
- General all-round tech person with an insatiable thirst to learn and a broad skill-set to deliver on such a diverse project (e.g. comfortable using technologies such as Git, Linux, AWS, serverless, Docker, NoSQL databases, APIs, etc.)
- Bonus: Data visualization & analytics experience
- Bonus: Experience with serverless data stack (Lambda, Kinesis, API gateway)
- Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to think creatively; highly-driven and self-motivated
- Comfortable with some ambiguity –we move fast and priorities change often
- Ability to communicate insights and findings to a non-technical audience
- Written and verbal proficiency in English
