Responsibilities:
- Lead and play an active role in coordinating and contributing to a data working group and Data Council to deliver a given mandate or resolve a data-related issues.
- Authorize access to data within the assigned domain; review and monitor accesses to ensure the proper approval process is followed and associated risks are appropriately mitigated and escalated as needed.
- Recommend changes to CMHC's directives to the Enterprise Data Governance (DG) Office.
- Advise the business on the application of various data management directives including but not limited to data classification, data retention and disposal, and metadata.
- Work with business users and subject matter experts to establish data quality criteria and thresholds with the goal of ensuring data quality.
- Monitor the quality of the data within the assigned domains, investigate potential issues and raise concerns with the business leaders as needed.
- Work with data governance Specialists and Data Custodians to develop and adapt the various reports and dashboards used to monitor Corporate Information Governance progress and performance.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management or any other related field, an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in data management / governance including data project experience.
- Demonstrated experience with using a Data Governance / Management Platform (e.g. Collibra and Informatica platform) to document business metadata.
- Solid understanding of data governance principles and data management process including data management lifecycle.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work on several initiatives simultaneously with tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to work in a team environment, take initiative and work independently.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to relate technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Broad understanding of mortgage loan insurance, affordable/social programs, real estate and finance.
- Certified Data Management Professional (DAMA) Certified Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM).
