Job description
One full-time data scientist/statistician is required to join a highly productive research team, working under the supervision of Professor Sarah Pendlebury in the Wolfson Centre for Prevention of Stroke and Dementia (CPSD). The postholder will bring expertise in data science and statistical methods to the NIHR-funded Innovation for Invention (i4i) 5-year programme within the centre. The role will involve leading the assembly and management of the large clinical datasets that form the basis of the programme and statistical analysis of data. There will also be involvement in other work related to frailty, multimobidity and delirium using old age medicine cohorts assembled by Professor Pendlebury’s team. The person appointed will report to Professor Sarah Pendlebury, but for some projects the post holder may work with other investigators in the unit including image analysis experts and methodologists. The post holder will also be encouraged to develop their own research interests.
To be considered for this role you will have a PhD or a degree at Masters level, with substantial numerical component, e.g. mathematics, statistics, computer science or a physical science. You will have postgraduate knowledge and experience of statistical methods used in health research, including design, analysis, interpretation and reporting of epidemiological/observational studies, or substantial work experience demonstrating an equivalent level of knowledge and expertise.

This position is full time and fixed term for two years in the first instance, with a possibility to extend subject to funding
