About The Role
We are looking for a Data Scientist to join the Connected Vehicles team at Motability Operations – operators of the UK’s largest fleet.
Joining a relatively new team that sits within the Innovation function this role offers a fantastic opportunity to help shape the development of our capabilities and strategy for this workstream. Connected Vehicle data offers the opportunity to transform the way fleets are managed and the team are delivering multiple projects exploring the value of connected vehicle data to a variety of areas including Service, Maintenance and Repair, Customer Experience and Vehicle Remarketing.
As a Data Scientist in the Connected Vehicles team you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team working closely with stakeholders across the business to find ways to deliver data-driven solutions that solve key challenges and deliver customer and commercial value.
About You
You will have gained the following skills/experience:
- You bring demonstrable experience in data science and are able to provide clear examples of where your insights have driven positive business impact.
- You are experienced in data preparation, exploratory data analysis (EDA) and feature engineering
- You can use machine learning tools and statistical techniques to produce solutions to business problems.
- You can work closely with non-technical business experts to identify issues and use data to propose solutions for effective decision making
- You enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary team and are highly collaborative.
- You are comfortable working across multiple workstreams / projects at the same time.
- You are a proactive self-starter who enjoys having the autonomy to drive change.
- You possess strong presentation skills and are confident explaining complex subject matter to non-technical stakeholders
- You are a team player and enjoy working with others to deliver shared goals.
Minimum Criteria
- Experience / knowledge of the automotive industry.
- Advanced analytics and data science experience.
- Knowledge of Python.
- Experience using SQL; Java or C++
- Demonstrable experience delivering data science projects.
- Strong data manipulation and statistical analysis skills.
- Experience implementing Machine Learning algorithms and statistical models.
- An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a similar quantitative field is required.
Desirable Criteria
- AWS Certification.
- Experience of using Terraform.
- Experience of working with connected vehicle data.
