Job Description

As a Data Scientist, your responsibilities will encompass extracting data from multiple sources and utilising machine learning techniques to organise and process the data. You will be responsible for cleaning, validating, and analysing the data to uncover valuable insights and patterns.

Additionally, you will work closely with the product manager to build prototypes that address the specific needs of the users. Your understanding of commercial problems and user requirements will play a crucial role in developing predictive systems that drive business growth and decision-making.

To succeed in this position, you will need to present data in a clear and concise manner, providing actionable recommendations to stakeholders. Your ability to propose innovative solutions and strategies, based on your commercial knowledge and collaboration with the product manager, will be essential in driving the success of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of commercial problems and user needs.
  • Collecting, processing, and analysing large and complex data sets using statistical and machine learning techniques.
  • Conducting comprehensive data exploration and analysis to identify trends, patterns, and correlations within the data, using advanced statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms
  • Working closely with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to improve data collection, storage processes, and integrate data science solutions into the company's products and services.
  • Ensuring the quality, accuracy, and consistency of data used for analysis and working with engineers to improve data collection and storage processes.
  • Communicating complex data analysis and insights within the team in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in written form.
  • Contributing to the development of data science best practices and helping to build a culture of data-driven decision-making within the company

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proven experience in a data scientist role or a related position, demonstrating proficiency in handling and analysing large datasets, extracting valuable insights, and applying advanced analytical techniques to address business challenges.
  • Strong understanding of commercial problems and experience collaborating with product managers to develop data-driven solutions.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R or Python, and database query languages like SQL.
  • Experience with applied statistical skills, including statistical tests, distributions, regression, maximum likelihood estimators, and other relevant techniques.
  • Knowledge of machine learning methods such as k-Nearest Neighbors, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, and practical application of these algorithms to real-world data.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools and libraries is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with great attention to detail and a focus on ensuring data accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data analysis and insights in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
  • Strong team working skills and a collaborative approach to sharing ideas, finding solutions, and contributing to a positive work environment.
