This position is based in the Unit's Physical Activity Epidemiology Programme. The primary role of this post is to support research in the area of physical activity, sedentary behaviour and sleep, by applying different data processing methods to measurements in large population studies. Examples include data collected from wearable sensors such as raw triaxial acceleration at 100-Hz resolution over a week in 1000s of participants.

The Unit benefits from a number of large-scale, cross programme epidemiological studies with detailed datasets allowing a wide range of research from genetics to public health. Highly experienced information teams and other specialist teams support the scientists in the delivery of their research aims.

The successful candidate will have a master or PhD in math, physics, computer science, or other quantitative disciplines. Applicants will have expertise in Python programming and high-performance computing suitable for processing large time-series data from large studies. Experience developing, sharing, and utilising code and working collaboratively using code repositories is desireable.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the data science underpinning international epidemiological research that will help address important public health issues.
