Lincoln National Corporation seeks a Data Scientist II; EMPLOYER: Lincoln National Corporation; LOCATION: Hybrid position within commutable distance of Boston office located at 101 Huntington Ave, Floors 8 & 9, Boston, MA 02199. JOB DUTIES: Apply statistical theory and methods, data mining, exploratory data analysis, and predictive modeling techniques to provide and deliver data-driven insights to internal stakeholders. Identify business problems that can be solved with data analytics including exploratory data analysis, summary statistics, data mining, clustering, regression, time series, and machine learning techniques. Research and evaluate relevant data resources and best practices for leveraging stakeholder knowledge/resources needed for clear definitions and data understanding. Create sets of structured and unstructured data using best practices for data aggregation, integration, and storage. Complete Exploratory Data Analysis on prepared data to summarize main characteristics, identify potential issues, and ensure accuracy. Analyze and interpret statistical data to identify relationships, patterns, trends, and anomalies in data. Manipulate data using major programming languages including SQL, R, or Python to draw insights, and source and compile data. Create visualizations and data storylines to share results with stakeholders and communicate actionable insights using data. Continuously research and train to expand knowledge of emerging data science principles, theories, techniques, data infrastructure, statistical concepts, and basic modeling techniques. Utilize complex predictive modeling techniques to work with increasingly complex machine learning techniques and models including clustering, text analysis, GBM, SVM, random forest, etc. Supervise a team of Associate, Data Scientists and Data Scientists I to strategically design and implement innovative data science solutions to support the achievement of business goals. REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in data science, statistics, or a closely related quantitative field and 1 year of experience applying concepts such as probability, statistics, modeling, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions to business problems. Required experience must also include the following: 1 year of (i) utilizing third party data sources including medical, financial, and government data to answer business questions; (ii) working with mathematical concepts such as averages and/or variances, as well as core statistical concepts including distributions and hypothesis testing in order to support key business strategies including market sizing, A/B testing, and outlier detection; (iii) utilizing statistical, basic predictive modeling and data mining techniques, and working with increasingly complex statistical models including time series, GLMs, clustering, machine learning, text analytics; (iv) using a major programming language including SQL, R, or Python in order to manipulate data, draw insights, and source and compile data. Pay Range: 102,301 - $184,500
Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
