Job description

A global top 10 AI Consultancy (Forbes, 2022), is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Scientist to join our team in tackling our customers' most challenging problems through the application of advanced AI solutions. In this critical role, you will be responsible for researching, developing, and implementing prototypes, minimum viable products (MVPs), or proof of concepts (PoCs) for our clients.

We believe that the responsible application of AI has the potential to address many of the most pressing challenges the world faces today. We are driven by the impossible. We harness our extensive expertise in advanced AI, ML, and Data Science along with cutting-edge technology frameworks to provide solutions for a diverse range of industries, including Environmental Protection, Healthcare, Sustainability and Finance. Our tailored offerings enable organizations to revolutionize their operational methods, streamline business processes, and attain valuable insights that lead to tangible business outcomes.

Who we are as a company

As the AI field witnesses significant advancement and maturity, illustrated by notable examples like ChatGPT and Stable Diffusion, Deeper Insights has established itself as a leader in AI development for nearly a decade. Our dedication to excellence has earned us a place among Forbes’ Top 10 AI Companies. As we navigate a period of rapid growth and expansion, we invite you to join our team and contribute to our enduring success.

Our diverse portfolio of case studies showcases original AI research, large-scale automation workflows, and custom unstructured data intelligence AI solutions that cater to a wide range of interests. We are strong proponents of knowledge sharing and innovation, working tirelessly to resolve complex client challenges.

About the role

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of AI and its applications, as well as a proven track record of successfully applying AI techniques to real-world problems. You will work independently with minimal or no supervision, taking ownership of your projects and delivering results in a timely manner.

As a consulting company, we value strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients. Therefore, this role will be client-facing and require effective stakeholder management. You will be responsible for understanding clients' requirements, providing expert guidance, and presenting solutions in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out the whole DS lifecycle in a project (client or internal) in order to create prototypes, MVPs or PoCs with a high degree of autonomy and ownership. You need to demonstrate your ability to independently execute the entire data science process and create valuable outcomes.
  • Identify and understand the right customer problem to solve and propose solutions that are aligned with their business goals
  • Convert business requirements into technical requirements
  • Write client proposals, client reports and internal documentation
  • Client-facing: make presentations to clients
  • Collaborate with the engineering and DevOps team to ensure the appropriate infrastructure is being used and the produced ML code is at a good standard
  • Mentor junior data scientists
  • Maintain clear and coherent communication, both verbal and written, to understand data science needs and report results
  • Research and stay up to date with the latest AI methods, techniques, and tools
  • Share DS knowledge internally and externally (e.g., write blog posts and/or white papers, give talks at meetups and DS events)
  • Provide technical feedback on the work of other data scientists

About you

  • 2+ year relevant experience in a Machine Learning/Data Science role in the industry (internships and work carried out within the context of a Master or PhD thesis won't be considered relevant industry experience for this specific role)
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree on a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics) - since we embrace diversity we will be open-minded with respect to your background
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies and experience working in an agile environment
  • Has experience with collaborative development using version control systems like git and Github within the context of a team
  • Has experience with a cloud computing ecosystem: AWS (preferred), GCP, or Azure
  • Great programming skills in Python
  • Knows how to code following software engineering best practices (automatic testing - unit tests, integration tests; debugging and bug fixing; creation of comprehensive documentation; coding standards - indentation, naming conventions, style guides; error handling and logging, etc)
  • Relevant hands-on experience developing Machine Learning solutions
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, uncertainty and working in a dynamic environment, where priorities change frequently and objectives may not be well defined
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyse issues, identify causes, recommend solutions quickly, and structure and prioritise an approach for maximum impact. We focus on delivering value to clients rather than micro-optimising models.
  • Lifelong learner mentality, a drive to master new technologies and techniques, and willingness to work outside your comfort zone

We are especially interested in hearing from you if you:

  • Have worked in a consulting company before
  • Have proven knowledge in at least one of the following fields:
    • Natural Language Processing (NLP) or Computer Vision (CV)
  • Have proven knowledge of deep learning (e.g., CNN, Transformers) and corresponding Python libraries (e.g., HuggingFace transformers, Pytorch)

We are very proud of our team and the culture that we have built here at Deeper Insights. We take care and are considerate when introducing new members to the team, even at our current rate of growth!
