OVERALL AIM OF THE JOB:
Provide Domestic Electrical Testing, Remedial, Repair and Improvement works to fixed wiring installations within Cornerstone Homes. All work to be conducted as required by the relevant codes of practice, current H&S law, and legislation in relation to domestic electrical works.
MAIN TASKS:
- Undertake all aspects of the role, in a way that is agile and flexible. Adopting a multi – skilled whole job repair approach to the work, that achieves Cornerstone’s and recognised industry standards of compliance, quality, and productivity.
- Take responsibility for individual performance, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
- To operate ICT hardware and systems in line with protocols, in an effective and efficient way, receiving and updating accurate and relative information when required and in real time.
- Adhere to all operational protocols and procedures that are in place.
- Take responsibility for all the equipment issued e.g., company vehicle, plant, electronic equipment etc.
- To manage impressed van stock and replenishments in an effective and efficient way.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the service, by suggesting initiatives that may improve service delivery and working positively to champion, develop and implement any new ideas / processes that are introduced.
- Undertake organisational and vocational training as required and share skills with others including mentoring trainees.
DELEGATED AUTHORITY:
To order materials or services necessary for carrying out your duties always in accordance with specified procedures and financial limits.
JOB ACTIVITIES:
1. Trade
1.1 To carry out all works associated with Electrical safety and maintenance works in accordance with current best practice and any guidance from your manager. You are expected to keep yourself updated in your own field of expertise. Where this requires registration or training this will be provided in consultation with your Department Manager.
1.2 To undertake other trade activities deemed to be within your abilities as instructed by your manager or other senior member of staff.
1.3 Work between all Property Service Team’s as required by your manager or other senior member of staff.
1.4 Ensure that mobile working practices are followed, electronic timesheets and material order forms are completed, and Cornerstone financial procedures are followed.
2* Health and Safety:*
2.1 Adhere to the requirements of the Association’s policies and all relevant Health & Safety legislation.
2.2 Ensure that you familiarise yourself with the Association’s COSHH register and that its contents are observed and applied at all times.
2.3.1 To report accidents to your Manager / Supervisor immediately and to record details of such incidents in the accident book provided.
2.3.2 Ensure that the PPE kit issued to you is kept and stored in good condition at all times and available for inspection when asked.
2.3.3 Bring any health & safety matters of concern to the immediate attention of your manager.
3* Control of Stock and Equipment*
3.1 Ensure that the storage areas and vehicles are kept tidy and locked at all times when unattended.
3.1.1 To assist in ordering and obtaining materials from authorised suppliers as required and ensure that an advice note/collection note is obtained for any materials purchased/delivered.
3.2 Bring any defective materials or equipment to the attention of your Site Supervisor.
3.2.1 All Loose Tools and equipment must be maintained in good working order in accordance with the Association’s policies.
4. GENERAL DUTIES

4.11. Occasional after-hours work may be required within the scope of the role.
4.12. Any other duties appropriate to your position as may be identified from time to time.

The employee will be aware that many of the Association’s residents are elderly and disabled and particular regard must be paid towards their care and safety.
PERSON SPECIFICATION -
Basic Eligibility (Any offer of employment will be conditional on you satisfying these requirements)
- Right to work within the United Kingdom.
- Satisfactory Basic DBS check
- Two references (one must be current or most recent employment)
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent qualification) in Electrical Installation
- City and Guilds 2382-18 BS7671:2018 18th Edition IEE Regulations and Electrical Installation
- AM2, 2391
- City & Guilds 2391/ 2392 - Testing & Inspection Certificate or equivalent demonstrable qualification
- Entry level qualifications in English Language and Mathematics or equivalent, including good communication skills
- Good level of numeracy and literacy skills, MS Office
Experience and knowledge
Essential
- Completed and spent the required period on an Electrical apprenticeship (time-served) or significant experience in the Electrical trade
- Previous knowledge of the building industry, particularly property maintenance in occupied homes experience
- To operate ICT hardware and systems in line with protocols, in an effective and efficient way, receiving and updating accurate and relative information when required and in real time
- Basic health and safety awareness
- Full Driving Licence
DESIRABLE
- Experience of electrical testing in domestic properties, installing and commissioning new domestic electrical systems
- Electrical fault finding and repair works
- Experience working to policies and procedures
- Positive approach to engaging with customers
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Knowledge of health & safety as appropriate to this role
- Knowledge of data protection principles
- Experience within the social housing sector in a housing or property related maintenance role
- Relevant CSCS or equivalent skills card

Normal Hours of Work - The normal working week is 39 hours.
Salary - Up to £35,807 depending on experience
