ChampionX is currently looking for a highly motivated Data Scientist in Boulder, CO or Houston, TX. The Data Scientist should have a background in mathematics and statistics. As a data scientist you will work as part of a team to complete agile data projects supporting analysis important for reduction of emissions and greenhouse gases. You will support the investigation of complex unstructured and semi-structured data to provide innovative solutions that help improve the accuracy, detection efficiency, and quantification of greenhouse gases.

What You Will Do:
  • Participates as a member of team of research scientists analyzing emissions data and developing novel approaches to data analysis and software.
  • Performs/executes data analysis procedures and data insight visualizations for assigned projects.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to perform experiments and validations in accordance with overall plan.
  • Collects, records, and analyzes data using established protocols and processes; communicates findings to other team members for review and feedback.
  • Assists in literature and presentations for peer review, publication, and delivery at industry and scientific events and conferences; creates patent applications and supporting documentation.
  • Contribute to all stages of data modeling and analytics projects, including problem formulation, solution development, and product deployment:
  • Translate business-relevant scientific, engineering, and commercial problems into questions that may be addressed using data science.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis for quality control and improved understanding.
  • Collaborate with team to rigorously and reproducibly build, analyze, and compare statistical and/or machine learning models.
  • Deploy data-analytic products to end-users and/or document data-analytic results in technical reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master of Science Degree in Mathematics + three (3) year experience OR PhD in Mathematics.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft software suite and programming languages (Python).
  • Experience supporting several data projects in Python.
  • Collecting data through setting up and managing new experimental and theoretical studies.
  • Transferring data into a new format to make it more appropriate for analysis.
  • Creating a new, experimental frameworks to collect data.
  • Searching through large data sets for usable information, such as long-term trends.
  • Derive and implement new Calibration curves with improved correlations compared to current models.
  • Creating reports and presentations for business uses.
  • Correlating similar data for find actionable results.
  • Expertise in Python for modeling and user interface designs.
  • Self-Driven work ethic.

Salary Range - $98,500 - $100,000
