Saga have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Data & Analytics to join our fast-growing technical team that focusses on how we use data to drive value. Joining us as the Head of Data & Analytics you will lead a team of data experts. The key focus of the team is Marketing Effectiveness across our diverse business model consisting of insurance, travel, cruise, media and financial products.
In this role you will be managing a team of 5 analysts, however this is soon to grow.
You will be solely responsible for the delivery of customer and commercial value through analysis, propensity modelling, reporting, using the latest tools, as well as advancing capability and delivery of key strategic initiatives and projects across the business.
** Remote/home working ** With a hybrid approach requiring 1 day a month in office in Kings Cross London or our other local hubs. You will need to be within a reasonable commuting distance to undertake this role.

Main Responsibilities
You will be reporting to the Director of Data & Analytics. The key areas of responsibilities are;
- To lead a team of experienced SQL analysts, modellers & web analysts to deliver customer and business value.
- Managing the creation of MI, Reporting, Analysis, Models, ensuring timeliness & stakeholder satisfaction.
- Expanding the use of propensity models to drive outbound & inbound targeting.
- Working with partners to develop a multi-channel attribution model and bring in-house and using it to drive value.
- Driving the optimisation of the Group Contact Strategy, and the iterative creation of a Next-Best-Action engine.
- Provide insight & recommendations into online customer recognition to drive improvements to ID’ing levels.
- Driving a robust test-and-learn approach across initiatives and promote excellence and best practice.
- Work with other Commercial, Data & Pricing teams to share data and findings.
- Help optimise processes, for example, automation of existing manual processes.
- Following our Governance and Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence.
- Continually looking for innovative ways to make improvements based on the latest trends and research.
- Networking to stay connected with business trends and changes.
- Effectively managing stakeholders and external providers.
- Keeping my thinking current through internal and external events and sharing best practice with my colleagues.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the business to make sure my team and I support Saga’s strategic initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate
We need an exceptional Head of Data & Analytics to join our business at this pivotal point of growth and start of a new data strategy. You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience;
- Strategic thinking – have worked in a large complex customer facing organisation.
- Leadership Skills- Have managed technical teams.
- Demonstrate strong stakeholder Management skills.
- Has experienced Change Management processes.
- Hs good communication and technical presentation skills.
- Has naturally strong problem-solving skills.
- Be seen as a pro-active and focused leader who always considers business objectives.
- Able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
- Able to work in a flexible and an agile environment.
- Has previously used ML tools (like Azure Auto ML & Databricks) and Enterprise-class marketing tools, website analytics.
- Knowledge of programming and query languages (particularly SQL)
- Knowledge of MS Azure data storage, management & analytics apps.
- Experience using cloud based analytical tools, e.g. Snowflake .
- Knowledge of data visualisation tools e.g. Tableau.
