About Our Role:
Reporting into the Data Governance & Open Data Manager, this role will be responsible for building, developing, and leading the framework for Data Governance required to be implemented and adopted throughout SP Energy Networks (SPEN), necessary to meet our RIIO-T2 and RIIO-ED2 ambitions and to align with our licence obligations as a Distribution and Transmission Network Operator.
You will develop an understanding of the fundamentals of Data Best Practice, data mastery and Data Governance, and will lead the communication of our obligations across SPEN. You will be responsible for establishing an extensive suite of Data policies, governance processes and controls which will enable SPEN to operate in a data driven environment, treating data as an asset, and ensuring security and interoperability, with key accountability enforced throughout the organisation.
What You'll Be Doing:
In this role, you’ll have a wide variety of responsibilities including:
- Managing the development and implementation of data strategy, policy, governance and compliance for SPEN, establishing a culture of treating data as an asset, and ensuring compliance with developed policies throughout SPEN.
- Managing the SPEN Data Governance Forum, with defined authority and business representation, and clear accountabilities and decision-making authority for all matters on Data Governance, chaired by Head of Network Data and Intelligence .
- Establishing Data Governance policy, process and compliance expectations; Data Best practice alignment and compliance; reporting on compliance with data governance policies and procedures.
- Developing a relevant suite of Data policies which are communicated and audited for compliance across SPEN.
- Establishing a data asset log, otherwise known as a data catalogue, which masters all meta data on all data assets held within SPEN, establishing data custodians and master systems and ensuring adequate review and management.
- Managing external relationships on behalf of SPEN, ensuring expectations with regards to data quality and relevance.
- Developing and enacting a clear Data communication plan in conjunction with the Business Transformation team.
- Attending Industry Working Groups and interfaces with Ofgem/ BEIS/ ENA on Data Governance including; DDSG, ENA, etc and ensuring that industry development are in line with SPEN ambition and strategic direction.
- Engaging with and adopting industry best practice such as Data Best Practice, Common Interface model, etc.
- Leading and managing a team, to ensure SPEN data governance requirements are developed, established, communicated, enabled and achieved.
What You'll Bring:
To be successful in applying for this role, we are ideally looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- Effective at managing change in a complex environment and creating a culture of engagement, positivity, agile delivery and focussed on outputs.
- Knowledge and experience of, or demonstration of ability to learn complex principles such as Common Information Model (CIM), Data Best practice and Electricity industry / regulatory licence requirements.
- Communication & Influencing skills: Ability to successfully engage with and influence both internal ScottishPower and Iberdrola groups and regulatory bodies / Industry Working Groups (Ofgem, BEIS, ENA).
- Data and information reporting capabilities, and knowledge of core reporting systems.
- Central platforms and Systems, Data architecture and information management awareness, and an understanding of Data science and analytical capabilities.
- Programme management and Organisation skills.
- Ability to prioritise and manage diverse and demanding workload.
