We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our team at GovData. As a Data Engineer specializing in Public Sector Frameworks, you will play a crucial role in enabling private sector companies to gain access to UK public sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain web scraping solutions to extract relevant data from public sector websites and portals.
  • Create, implement, and maintain APIs to facilitate data retrieval, integration, and exchange between various systems and platforms.
  • Design, develop, and manage databases to efficiently store and organize the extracted data.
  • Implement robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure accurate and timely data integration and transformation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and ensure data solutions align with business needs.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize data pipelines, APIs, and databases for performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through data validation, cleansing, and normalization techniques.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices related to data engineering, web scraping, APIs, databases, and ETL processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in web scraping, API creation, and maintenance.
  • Strong expertise in database design, development, and management.
  • Proficiency in ETL processes and tools for data integration and transformation.
  • Solid programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or SQL.
  • Familiarity with data storage technologies like SQL databases, NoSQL databases, and data warehouses.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of data visualization and reporting tools, preferably Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience or familiarity with the UK is a plus.
