As part of our mission, we are seeking to evolve and transform our People Data and Analytics capability and we now need a brilliant and inquisitive data analyst to helps us on this journey.
As Data Analyst, you will sit within the BBC Studios HR team, and will support the Studios HR data strategy and architecture. The role will be dedicated to providing data analytics and reporting support and insight for BBC Studios and will support the HR Data Lead, working closely with the central BBC MI & Systems team.
The role will provide regular reporting and analysis to allow the business to make informed decisions about our people strategy, whilst working to improve the data architecture and reporting capability. This includes preparing monthly and quarterly divisional people data packs for the BBC Studios CEO and Executive Committee, providing BBC Studios data for half year and full year reporting at BBC Group level, and managing reporting around Gender Pay, diversity and leadership.

Main Responsibilities- Produce and quality assure management information and statistical data in response to internal and external requirements. This will involve the extraction of data using standard and ad hoc reporting methods and the processing of this data using Tableau and Microsoft Excel.
- Support the delivery of People Key Performance Indicators and service level agreements.
- Review and assist the cleanse of data within HR and associated people systems.
- Assist with the maintenance of HR Systems, including auditing and quality assuring data, working with key stakeholders (e.g. BBC MI & Systems team) to resolve any system issues and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Be involved in the development of HR systems, including system testing prior to implementation.
- Provide guidance and support to system users across BBC Studios, including the identification and communication of best practice for system usage.
- Deliver a variety of training initiatives for HR Systems users operating at all levels within the organisation.
- Support the HR Data Lead to review and develop service delivery and efficiency across the department and identify and develop products to support this.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering a high standard of service with an emphasis on quality at all times.
- To be responsible for improving personal performance by actively engaging in Continuous Professional Development.
- To carry out any other duties which are consistent with the nature and responsibilities of this role.
Essential
- Experience of inputting and extracting information from IT systems
- Experience of using Excel to an advanced level (including use of Pivot tables, lookups, formulas etc)
- Experience of the production of accurate reports, management information and statistical data to support and inform management decisions
- Experience of working with self-leadership by organising and prioritising own workload
- Experience of carrying out research and producing accurate written information and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail
- Experience of working to deadlines and tight timescales, within a busy environment
- Experience of developing positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience of maintaining and managing confidential records, paying particular attention to detail and ensuring the accurate recording of the data and the confidentiality of the information
Desirable
- Educated to degree level or above in STEM subject or equivalent experience
- Experience with data visualisation tools, e.g. Tableau Shiny R, Python Dash
- Strong understanding of how the digital and media landscape is evolving and the implications for BBC Studios and all parts of the BBC
- A good understanding of linear and on demand television services, online data collection technologies, online data ecosystems, news media, online publishing, with a knowledge of key competitors
