The business area, European Wind and Solar, is responsible for development and ownership of Wind, Solar and Grid Services assets in Europe. The business area is also responsible for the project execution of large projects in Statkraft.
Job Description
The Data Analyst role will, depending on background and experience, be involved in the following;
- assist in the development, maintenance and improvement of the data collection processes,
- the on boarding of new sites,
- the data visualisation and the automation of routine processes that facilitate the routine fault analysis of solar plants used in the decision-making for O&M and Asset Management.also;
- support the monthly reporting on the portfolio performance.
- scrutinise information from different sources (for example contracts, monitoring platforms and various internal databases)
- improve existing or develop new data analysis tools in Python.

- ensure that analysis results are effectively presented to users and management teams on chosen user-friendly platforms to guide decision making especially regarding periods liable to performance penalties.

- participate and contribute to the on-going research activities of the Team,
- identify opportunities for new or improved processes and techniques, adopting a ‘lessons learned’ culture through sharing feedback to key stakeholders
Key activities and responsibilities:
- Use and develop advanced computer models to automate and optimize contractual, performance-related, or other routine functions.
- Support in maintaining and continually improving the data visualisation platform created by the Team and its uptake to users.
- Support the optimisation of the on-boarding processes for new sites.
- Prepare high-quality reports based on thorough analysis and high attention to detail, communicating key insight to management and across to other teams especially Construction and O&M.
- Participate and contribute to on-going research topics.
Data preparation and automation
- Able to work with large amount of data and across various database systems.
- Able to collect data from various sources using APIs.
- Able to identify key signals collected from PV plants and identify anomalies in the data
- Able to develop automated procedures using Python programming language and ensure data quality control measures and data integrity across all key sensors in the PV plant.
- Document existing and new processes on data analysis procedures, chosen models and methodologies
Database administration
- Maintain optimal data structure and develop software tools that utilise the data workflow across multiple platforms.
- Identify and automate processes to optimise data delivery and data quality.
- Detect weaknesses and re-design existing infrastructure where that is necessary for the facilitation of data delivery and analysis.
Performance analysis and optimisation tools
- Assist in the development of necessary APIs to collect data from various sources, if these do not already exist.
- Assist in or create data visualisation means for improved analysis that facilitates the detection and identification of specific PV faults.
- Use existing and assist in developing tools to characterise current operation and identify improvement options in data quality, analysis and visualisation
- Participate and contribute in on-going research topics.
Teamwork and Cooperation
- Proven ‘self starter’ attitude within high functioning close knit teams
- Ability to use chosen project management tools for reporting and tracking tasks to the team and Line Manager
- Work with teams on contractual performance testing results
- Work with team on root cause investigations and intervention tracking
- Work with team to develop new investigation tools and systemise these into regular operation
- Comfortable working with international teams, including internal and external stakeholders
Ability to effectively and adaptably communicate complex issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications
Essential (at least 3 of the following)
- Degree qualified on a relevant subject (Data Analysis, Data Science, Mathematics or relevant background); Masters Degree or higher preferred if no prior experience in the Energy Industry
- Excellent knowledge and experience with Python (preferred), R or similar language to build data processing tools and numerical models.
- Excellent understanding of database principles and design and experience of SQL.
- At least 1 year of experience in “big data” analysis.
- DesiredFamiliarity with Renewable Energy technology (PV and/or Wind and/or Battery storage) plant monitoring guidelines, systems, key sensors and collected measurements will be considered a strong advantage.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and identification of problematic data structures that require improvement.
- Ability to effectively identify possible data issues and communicate them clearly to Line Manager and relevant stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of code hosting/sharing services (such as GitHub, Assembla) and data visualisation platforms (Grafana, Power BI or similar).
- Ability to prioritise and direct work to facilitate troubleshooting and support the work of data analysis amongst team members.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, technical, cross-functional team environment.Experience on specific database types such as MySQL and/or InfluxDB.
- Experience on Grafana, Power BI or similar
