The Data Analyst is responsible for organizing, compiling, aggregating and summarizing data both internally and externally. This role will take raw source data from both internal and external stakeholders and turn it into useable information to then build reporting and analytics. This role will additionally support ad hoc analysis, reporting, and inquiries. This role requires high degree of accuracy and attention to detail to create and extract meaningful insights and trends from data, which can be used to improve business processes, optimize performance, and drive strategic decision-making. This role will also act as a liaison between Subject Matter Experts and the external data team.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Perform data analysis, mining, and modelling to create routine, complex ad-hoc and custom queries.
  • Drive the collection and organization of new data from both internal and external sources.
  • Responsible for data preparation, quality checks and data cleanliness to prepare selection populations and samples.
  • Develop and produce reports upon request including dashboards and report visualizations.
  • Extract, prepare, clean and process large amounts of data to support various data analyses and projects.
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of the data and reports available within the BI environment through meticulous testing, automated and manual data reviews, performance monitoring, contingency planning, consistency reviews, and other methods as appropriate.
  • Support the BI end-users through training sessions, user guides, one-on-one consultations, advice, workshops, troubleshooting, downtime procedures, and issue resolution.
  • Build and support Excel based tools.
  • Process change requests on existing data sets.
  • Maintain integrity of data and report as well as reinforce confidentiality of research.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements:

  • Minimum one to three (1-3+) years experience working with data, numbers, statistics, analytics or related experience.
  • Post secondary degree or diploma required.
  • Degree in Information Systems or Data Analytics preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Advanced experience with SQL and ability to create complex queries and joins.
  • Self-reliant exploring, extracting, analyzing, and presenting information with Excel (PivotTables, writing VBA code, etc.) and Tableau.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide meaningful analytics and visualizations.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with internal and external teams.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills to gather operational requirements and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and organize documentation at a variety of levels including business requirements, technical documents, and user documents.
  • Advanced knowledge of relational and multi-dimensional (OLAP) data models and ETL tools.
  • Ability to understand complex statistical concepts and translate them to technical requirements.
  • Understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle and project management methodology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English including the ability to express complex ideas in simple terminology.
  • High degree of trust handling confidential information.
  • Ability to execute multiple initiatives at the same time.
  • Flexible; readily accepts change; open to new ideas.
  • Proactive, self-directed, with the ability to structure a weekly schedule to be successful.
  • Experience in cloud computing (GCP BigQuery), data science with python and/or Visual Studio is a plus.
