Hiscox Group, an established, and expanding player in the worldwide insurance arena, are looking for financial systems data analysts to join their 8 strong Finance Data Systems Analysts Team within Group & Enterprise Services Technology department. We are looking for highly intelligent, results driven professionals with good investigative and written communication skills to join our reconciliation and reporting team. They need to be able to review issues found by the business and the automated reconciliation systems, interrogate the data and by liaising with stakeholders and identify and document the root cause of the issue and then follow up until the problem is resolved.

Candidates should be able to develop strong working relationships with business stakeholders and technicians working with them not just on current needs, but also identifying future innovations and technologies to drive improvement in data quality and reporting.

The successful applicant will have at least 5 years’ experience working with data as a developer, data analyst or test analyst preferably in financial institutions.

The person we are looking for must demonstrate a commitment to data quality, and be willing to take ownership of issues to see them through to completion, with dedication and a focus on customer service.

Technical Job Description:

This role sits within the Group & Enterprise Services Technology team. The focus for this role is to identify and analyse data issues, or provide data support for new development of the core data warehouse and financial reporting solutions. The role requires ‘hands on’ investigation of technical data, and will involve working closely with internal and external delivery teams, infrastructure and 3rd party application teams to support. There will also be an element of development of our reconciliation and reporting environments.

You will be responsible for the analysis, root cause and solution definition processes which will require you to:

  • Conduct data interrogation activities across a number of SQL data instances
  • Produce high quality deliverables, including materiality analysis and defect stories
  • Build strong productive relationships with the business, IT teams and external 3rd parties in order to leverage their knowledge and skill to assist in your analysis
  • Act as a focus for questions related to business usage of systems within your sphere of influence.
  • Support the system and UAT test teams, helping with understanding of the change and reviewing test cases to ensure full coverage
  • Support the on-going development of the Data Analyst function at Hiscox, having input to the standards, procedures, and knowledge transfer processes

Must have

  • 5+ years Data Analysis experience ither as a data analyst, test analyst or developer in an MS SQL and/or AZURE environment
  • 2+ years exposure to one or more of the following disciplines: Solution Design, Data Warehouse, Modelling and Business Intelligence experience
  • Experience of Microsoft SQL Server technologies, or other SQL variants
  • Understanding and passion for data quality
  • An ability to explain technical data issues and concepts to business stakeholders and senior management using business terminology

Beneficial

  • Data mining capabilities
  • Experience of data/system integration and a strong ability to identify dependencies
  • Experience operating within an agile and hybrid development environment
  • Exposure to large scale projects/programmes and working in a matrix environment with 3rd party suppliers
