Job description

FAI is looking for an experienced Data Analyst to support FAI’s core digital solutions (BirdBox, Insite and Enterprise) to support better food systems globally. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with FAI’s data and consultancy teams to deliver advanced data analysis and Power BI reporting to generate meaningful insights for food system improvement.

Our key digital solutions that support our work include:
FAI BirdBox is a poultry farm management tool that utilises automated sensors for real-time insights. The digital ‘flockbook’ and in-shed hardware collate, analyse and report critical flock information to support daily farm management and deliver better productivity, animal welfare and sustainability in the poultry industry.

FAI Insite is an innovative tool that allows food industry actors to efficiently and accurately collect, monitor, and report key food animal welfare and sustainability metrics across global supply chains. Data is analysed by FAI’s team of experts to provide intuitive dashboards and reporting outputs that deliver key, tailored insights, enabling identification of risks and opportunities for strategic action to drive food system improvement.

FAI Academy & Enterprise E-learning is online agri- and aqua-culture learning through a dedicated cloud-based training platform – Enterprise, and an academy website – FAI Academy. We design and host courses that are tailored to specific audiences, meet the needs of diverse learners, are accessible and easy to navigate, and use a variety of assessment techniques per learning objective. Key courses include 1) Regenerative Farming and 2) the welfare of tilapia, carp, and shrimp.

Tasks

Key Responsibilities for this role:

  • Handle and interpret diverse and large supply chain and food system data.
  • Utilise Power BI (and other software) to undertake descriptive, prescriptive, and diagnostic reporting.
  • Collaborate with FAI’s product teams to improve the collection, processing, and storage of data across FAI’s key data platforms.
  • Work together with FAI’s consultancy team to develop meaningful and user-focused reports that deliver strategic insight to FAI clients and partners.
  • Deliver ongoing improvement of FAI data platforms and programmes through data quality monitoring and reporting.
  • Provide internal training on utilisation and optimisation of reports created.
  • Assist in relevant documentation of product and client deliverables.
Requirements

Key Skills/Experience

  • Undergraduate (BSc) degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, or related field is essential.
  • Graduate degree (MSc or other) in Computer Science, Statistics, Predictive Analytics is desirable.
  • Project experience working with market, supply chain or KPI data is desirable.
  • Expert in Microsoft Power BI reporting (Microsoft certification is a bonus) and common statistical packages (e.g., R).
  • Competent in Python.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of developments in computer systems and technology relevant to data analysis and reporting.
  • An interest in food, farming, sustainability, is preferable.
  • Fluent English required; additional languages would be beneficial.
