Job description

Ideally I would like someone who could work on a hybrid basis (a mixture of working from home and in Council offices in Cambridge). However, I would be willing to consider candidates with the necessary skills and experience who would only be able to work from home/remotely.

1. Analysing and interpreting data (both publicly available and held by the Council) on demographic, socieconomic and environmental issues and identifying key trends and policy and service implications for the Council to inform decision-making.

2. Providing data analysis to support colleagues to identify opportunities for the council and providing data products to support funding bids and business cases.

3. Maintaining an awareness and understanding of publicly-available secondary data on demographic, socioeconomic and environmental issues affecting Cambridge, including sources such as Office for National Statistics (ONS), NOMIS, Indices of Deprivation (IoD), Public Health Outcomes Framework, Centre for Cities, Consumer Data Research Centre (CDRC) sub regional data analysis and new data sets linked to Levelling-up.

4. Providing clear, accessible data visualisations and written reports and briefings for Councillors, Directors and managers on key policy issues, data analysis and corporate performance issues.

5. Providing clear, engaging oral presentations, briefings and contributions to meetings for/with Councillors, Directors and managers on the findings of data analysis.

6. Helping to build community of data practitioners across the Council, to support Council services to understand and use data better, including publicly available data and data that they hold.

7. Working collaboratively with key partner organisations (including Cambridgeshire Insight, other councils and other local partner organisations) and national organisations (including Government departments, professional bodies, think-tanks and other independent organisations) on data initiatives as required.
