Job Summary
Caerus is seeking an entry-level data analyst to join our reservoir engineering team in the upstream oil and gas industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing, interpreting, and reporting on data related to reservoir engineering activities, such as reservoir performance analysis, production forecasting, and reserve estimation. The data analyst will work closely with a team of reservoir engineers to help identify trends and patterns in data and provide insights that will drive decision-making.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and analyze large data sets related to reservoir engineering activities, including well performance, fluid properties, and reservoir characteristics
- Collect, clean, and analyze large data sets related to corporate activities, including drilling and completions operations, marketing, processing, and financial metrics
- Develop and maintain databases, spreadsheets, dashboards, and other tools to track and report on key metrics related to reservoir performance, production forecasting, reserve estimation, and corporate data
- Collaborate with engineers and geoscientists to identify key trends and patterns in data and provide insights that will drive decision-making related to reservoir management and development optimization
- Use statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to identify correlations and causations between different data points
- Build visualizations and dashboards to help communicate insights to stakeholders across the organization, including reservoir management and senior leadership
- Monitor and maintain data quality and integrity across various data sources
- Develop and maintain documentation for data analysis processes and procedures
Qualifications
Education
- Successful completion of a quantitative bachelor’s degree
Specialized knowledge
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Spotfire, and Microsoft Power BI
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R preferred
- Experience working with databases and data visualization tools
- Familiarity with reservoir engineering concepts, including basic knowledge of reservoir performance analysis, production forecasting, and reserve estimation

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex data analysis insights to non-technical stakeholders
- High degree of autonomy and strong work ethic
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically about complex data sets
- Attention to detail, with a focus on data quality and accuracy

- 0 – 3 years of relevant work or experience
Working conditions
- Multi-tasking, fast-paced, and frequent irregular/prolonged hours in an office environment
- Some travel (<10% of the time)
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual Compensation Range:
- $64,000 - $80,000
- Eligible for an annual bonus
