The Commercial Data Analyst reports into the Commercial Support Manager and will assist with the provision of information to our Sales & Marketing function that supports the commercial activities of IOPP.
The role holder will work closely with the Commercial Support Manager, the Chief Sales Officer and the wider Sales and Marketing Team to support in the sales of IOPP’s products to Academic, Government and Corporate customers. They will support on data acquisition, management and customer analysis. The ability to understand internal customer needs and add additional value where appropriate is an important aspect of the role.
Transformative Agreement (TA) Support:
- Provide the technical expertise to support the onboarding of new Transformative Agreements. This will primarily mean the provision of relevant historical data to our Sales Teams.
- Track the progress of our Transformative Agreements (TAs) across our sales regions, produce reports and summaries for the Chief Sales Officer and regional heads.
- Manage and enhance the dataset used for the provision of Transformative Agreement (TA) proposals. This will involve standardising institutional names, ensuring articles are correctly assigned to the right institutions/consortia and the information extracted from the data is robust.
Sales Support:
- Assist the Commercial Support Manager on the provision of information to our global sales teams when they require sales and subscription analysis to support customer and consortia negotiations, this may be in support of Transformative Agreements (also known as read and publish), read-only subscriptions, eBooks or archive sales.
- Support the annual pricing review process by carrying out competitor analysis of our key competitors across subscription and Article Processing Charges (APC) pricing.
- Support the annual pricing review by modelling title by title pricing across each of the journals in our hybrid journal portfolio as well as assessing the impact of individual journal price increases and product changes on our headline (IOPscience extra) price increase.
Product Development:
- Maintain our Pick and Choose and Evidence Based Acquisition order forms so they can be provided to customers and integrated into Salesforce.
- When required assess the commercial suitability of potential new products to be added to IOP’s portfolio, these can be internal or external with third-party suppliers. Assess our existing product offerings on a regular basis with the Commercial Support Manager and Sales teams to ensure they are appropriate for our customers.
- Coordinate the agreements in place to provide access to low-income countries e.g. Research 4 Life, including ensuring the access provision through these is maximised with compromising contracts in place, and providing information on these agreements to support marketing
