NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range
$98,300 - $190,100
- Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

To support Sandia's national security missions, our cybersecurity scientists and engineers engage in a variety of research areas including:
- Cloud security
- Reverse engineering
- Malware analysis
- Risk analysis and metrics
- Threat intelligence
- Cyber data analysis and automation (Data Science, Machine Learning)
- Software and binary analysis and understanding
- Virtualization and Hypervisor security
- Communications infrastructure security (5G, Software defined networking, Wireless)
- Automated software analysis techniques (fuzzing, symbolic execution)
- Research-based experimental design and analysis
- Programmatic development across national security partners and government agencies
- Differential Privacy

The selected applicant can be a virtual worker located in any U.S. State or District of Columbia. Regular or periodic travel to your assigned work location (Livermore, California) will be required.
Qualifications We Require
- Master's degree in a relevant STEM subject area or equivalent experience in lieu of degrees must be engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development
- Software development and algorithm design skills in C/C++, Java, Python, or Assembly
- Experience with research design and experimental rigor
- Ability to travel to Livermore, California (about 10%)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance
Qualifications We Desire
- Master's degree(s) in Computer Science/Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Forensics, or Mathematics or related field
- 1 year of additional cybersecurity experience beyond minimum requirements
- Well-developed leadership skills with ability to prioritize and execute in a well-adapted and focused manner
- Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to explain complex ideas clearly and concisely as well as how experience has shaped your abilities
- Experience conducting research resulting in creative technical solutions
- Experience with one or more of the following: network design, implementation, administration, database systems, web servers, application servers, firewalls, network devices, data science/analytics, virtualization, hypervisors, mobile and embedded systems, large scale model environments, network architectures, commercial and private cloud platforms, malware analysis, symbolic execution
- Experience auditing code in C/C++, Java, Python, Assembly, or other languages
- Strong analytical skills; creativity and innovative problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with secure-system design principles and information assurance principles
- Active DOE or DOD security clearance

Security Clearance
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
