Job Title: Customs Brokers
Hours: Full-time
Type of Contract: Permanent
Job Scope
To provide a full customs brokerage service to all domestic and international clients
Main Responsibilities
- Create Customs declarations ensuring correct codes / schemes used for both import & export.
- Create transit documents and ensure Customs compliant.
- Prepare all paperwork for export, including raising airway bills.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers to obtain relevant paperwork.
- Arrange transport for both international and domestic from start to finish, updating on status and final POD.
- Cost and provide quotes for all enquiries, offering advice on transit and Customs formalities.
- Deal with any Border Force enquiries.
- Create records and ensure conformity of ETSF facility.
- Co-ordinate day to day schedule for drivers & use of subcontractors.
- Load and unload vehicles when necessary, keeping record of goods in warehouse.
- Finalise file checking charges in preparation for invoicing.
- Pick and pack organisation.
In addition, the post holder will be expected to:
- Undertake reasonable requests from managers in line with the range and scope of the post.
- The conduct of the post holder must be in accordance with the terms of any UK legislation e.g. employment legislation, human rights etc.
- Comply with the requirements of the Risk Management Policy, a copy of which is available on the Intranet.
- Demonstrate a professional attitude towards work, including confidential information.
Competencies/Personal Requirements/Experience
- 5 years’ experience in a customs environment.
- Experience of imports and exports.
- Good understanding of customs systems, preferably Descartes, Conex, Boxtop.
- Good interpersonal communication skills including the ability to work within a team and interact across the Group.
- A logical approach to problem solving is essential.
- Ability to develop and build relationships both internally and externally.
- Strong customer focussed attributes.
- The ability to understand business and customer requirements and find solutions.
- Good general IT skills and understanding and a good knowledge of MS Office.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales.
- Ability to work independently, using own initiative, remotely and outside of normal office hours.
- Be flexible when required and work within a changing environment.

Pay: £26,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
