The Role & Team
The Economy and Growth Team – Culture and Tourism are responsible for supporting the regeneration of our town centres, creating vibrant places to live and visit with a strong culture and leisure offer. Working with businesses, investors, developers, and delivery partners, our aim is to create an environment where businesses thrive and create high quality jobs for our residents, and we have a year-round tourism sector, which benefits our communities and attracts visitors to the whole region.
Part of this specific role will be to work with the Council’s Culture, Leisure, Heritage and Tourism Team, whose role is to promote North East Lincolnshire’s cultural and tourism offer to local people and visitors, encouraging people to participate in culture and heritage activities and attracting higher levels of visits and stays in the area. The Tourism Team also manages events at the Meridian Showground in Cleethorpes, where a wide range of events take place.
Your Responsibilities
To support the Culture, Leisure, Heritage and Tourism Team responsibilities will include:
- Marketing activities including creating new campaigns, and direct mail support.
- Digital marketing including writing, researching, and uploading new website content (for DiscoverNEL and other NELC channels), supporting with Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and analytics.
- Supporting with social media, creating new content, research into new channels and developing new ways of working.
- Support with developing new visitor experiences and packages to attract new markets.
- Event management support, including keeping the annual events calendar for NEL up to date.
- Visitor experience capture and monitoring.
- Supporting with data gathering and analysis of tourism, leisure, heritage and culture related statistics and analytics for reporting and monitoring purposes.
- Horizon scanning for latest tourism trends and opportunities and competitor analysis etc.
- Support with securing advertising for future visitor guides.
- Help developing business cases and funding bids for of tourism, leisure, heritage, and culture related projects.
Working Environment
This role will mainly be office based (in Grimsby town centre) with some opportunities to work from home but from a tourism perspective there may be an opportunity to carry out some activities either at the Meridian Showground or within the resort of Cleethorpes, which will be fully supervised.
