About the role

Your role will lead on bringing to life our culture, embedding a positive and inclusive colleague experience that aligns to our company values and employer brand. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement strategies and activity that improves colleague engagement, overall colleague satisfaction and connection with our business purpose. You will the lead and deliver an always on culture of employee feedback, including our employee engagement metric activity, providing leaders with data and insights to continuously improve engagement levels, as well as creating initiatives that promote teamwork, recognition, and growth opportunities contributing to the overall success of Matalan.

Key Responsibilities -

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive culture and engagement strategy that aligns with the company's vision and values.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive colleague experience and environment through a proactive calender of engagement activity that engages all colleagues across our diverse teams.
  • Create and execute programs and initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction, including the ownership and measurement of our Thrive recognition and Wellbeing programmes.
  • Own the overarching framework of celebration days and events to bring to life our culture and brand internally.
  • Own the employee engagement and always on colleague experience survey framework to ensure leaders have access to confidential data and insights to make improvement to the engagement of their teams, identifying relevant tools and trends.
  • Support the exec and leadership teams on implementation of business improvements following insights from colleague listening forums (eg Your Voice and CEO Listening Groups)
  • Work in partnership with the HR Leadership team to develop regular data and reporting that connects key touch points across the colleague journey from on-boarding to off-boarding.
  • Work with business leaders to identify risk areas for improvement, and develop action plans based on feedback to drive positive change.
  • Collaborate with the HR Leadership team, business leaders and Your Voice reps to ensure we execute innovative engagement activity and campaigns that improve the colleague experience and are brought to life via or external social channels.
  • Work with exec and senior leadership teams to act upon colleague
  • Network externally and own key external relationships to drive engagement (e.g. Retail Trust, Alder Hey, NSPCC)
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices related to employee engagement, culture, and workplace well-being to ensure we continuously improve our offer

About You

  • Have experience at leadership or senior advisor level with in the culture and engagement discipline
  • Excellent Planning and Organisational Skills
  • Excellent event and campaign planning skills
  • A creative and innovative thinker
  • A clear and engaging communicator
  • Proven ability to develop and implement employee engagement programs and initiatives that align with organizational goals.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to collect and analyse data to measure the effectiveness of engagement initiatives
