My client is a leading global provider of professional services and technology solutions to the insurance industry. This is an opportunity for someone with extensive credit control experience to join their team of as they grow their organisation within the London Markets team. The role will focus on delivering collections of overdue and aged debt from their business units. The ideal candidate will have a background in the London insurance and reinsurance market, Aviation or a professional services organisation (Legal/accounting) The position will be required to work 2-3 days from the Newcastle office with the remaining days flexibly working from home.
Key Responsibilities of Credit Controller
- Responsible for a portfolio of debtors predominantly with insurance and reinsurance companies. Responsible for ensuring all overdue debts/accounts are followed up to achieve cash collections targets, and reduce debtor days (Days Sales Outstanding - DSOs).
- Managing the reduction of the receivables ledger(s) by chasing overdue debts, resolving queries to clear debts by Reviewing Slips - predominately understanding Aviation Class of business.
- Fee processing including CLASS/ECF
- Updating Fee Reserves
- Collating market information
- Assisting in the collection of open market fee invoices
- Liaising with Accounts department in relation Technical accounting issues
- Assist in the set up and processing of fee funds
- Liaising with Brokers
- Promptly investigating and resolving aged debt and collecting against outstanding aged debt
- Building effective internal and external professional relationships i.e. with adjusters within the business internally and with clients contacts to improve the collection of fees
- Deploying escalation tools/procedures to influence a positive outcome, while maintaining effective, professional relationships with our clients at all times
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records/status on our core systems
- Ensuring compliance with CTA procedures and controls
Experience & Qualifications of Credit Controller
- At least 3 - 5 years' experience as a credit controller in an Insurance, financial services or professional services organisation is essential
- A track record of building relationships and able to influence positive outcomes with internal and external clients is essential
- To be successful in this role, you must be authoritative, knowledgeable and calm
- Credit management qualifications would be beneficial, but not essential
- A good level of academic attainment in English, Maths and other subjects will be essential
- Analytical skills using MS Office and in particular, Excel skills and use of Power BI, should be intermediate/advanced
