The Role

We are looking for a Creative Design Director who can weave our company 'DNA' together into a tangible brand that people love. You will live and breath our values and be one of only a handful of 'taste makers' in the business who are the custodians of the TravelPerk brand.

You are able to interpret business requirements quickly, and translate them into elegant, creative solutions, primarily online, but also physical events and internal comms. You will often be juggling multiple projects and campaigns, and must demonstrate skill and experience in building a high performance creative team and directing external agencies. You must be exceptional at pitching creative concepts to company stakeholders, with a proven track record of impactful work through measurable means. Your credibility will also come from the design skills you can demonstrate to the team, and be expected to sometimes show the team how to design yourself.

You will report to the VP of Design to ensure the brand is executed consistently across all touch points, and ensure the function is high performing, delivering winning solutions. Your primary partner will be VP Brand, and stakeholders will be in Marketing, Events, Sales and the People Team, and extending into Product and Customer Care. You will have peers in Product Design and Design Ops.

This role can be based from London or Barcelona and requires you to be in the office 1-2 times per week.

You'll be accountable for:

  • The creative vision: You'll set the highest standards of output for the brand and creative team, and external agencies
  • Digital creativity: Distilling abstract business concepts into refined, elegant creative solutions especially for web and BTL, then ATL/TTL as we win in key markets and sectors
  • High performing creative team: You can demonstrated you have excellent people management and leadership skills in order to lead and inspire, hire, develop, and oversee your creative team. You'll be responsible for growing the function in the appropriate way for the business, either with agency roster and/or full time employees
  • Brand tastemaker: Continually champion, improve and maintain the overall brand and campaigns year on year. You'll be the one who can show the business what great looks like
  • Outcomes: Lead and effectively prioritise multiple projects from conception to completion on time with clear impact on the business
  • Role modelling: Our company values, and promote a highly collaborative mindset across the whole design team and company stakeholders
  • Safe space: Lead critiquing of work to ensure a safe space for receiving feedback and constructive criticism

Requirements:

  • Exceptional brand and creative portfolio. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience creatively marketing digital products and, or B2B services
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to clearly and effectively communicate the creative vision, concepts, ideas, and solutions to stakeholders, internal teams, and clients
  • A solid grasp of art history, design history, photography and the visual arts, pop culture, and counterculture; fluency in current technology, social and economic issues, a deep understanding of the zeitgeist of social tastes and current affairs
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting, including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications
  • Extensive supervisory experience (including leadership, team-building, and delegation) leading and managing a creative team, along with external agencies
  • Be excited about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders via a hybrid distributed model to regularly deliver design solutions
  • Self aware of your weaknesses, who you partner best with, and what your key strengths are
