1 Year Fixed Term Post (potential for permanent position on successful registration as a Counselling Psychologist)
City & Hackney CAMHS are excited to be recruiting to a full-time counselling psychologist in training as part of a new pilot aiming to increase counselling psychologists working in CAMHS.
This is a unique training role for counselling psychologists in the third year of the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. It is a full-time role with built in study time so that the trainee is able to complete their training course alongside gaining valuable CAMHS skills.
The post holder will work in the Emotional & Behavioural Pathway 2.5 days a week and 0.5 days a week for the Off-Centre Counselling Service, which is a service for 16-25 year olds.
Following completion of their training and registration and the year of CAMHS experience, there will be the potential for the post holder to apply for band 7 and take up this role in an East London Foundation NHS CAMHS.
We are looking for confident professionals who are keen to develop their skills in providing evidence-based interventions to children and young people both within schools and in CAMHS clinic setting. You will have a demonstrable track record of providing collaborative and supportive interventions with children, young people, families, and parents/carers.
Under supervision and with support, to develop knowledge and practice skills in:
- Mental health assessments and evidence based interventions for children, young people, families, groups and/or their parents or carers.
- Assessment and management of mental health crises when they arise with support from senior staff
- Formulation, implementation and evaluation of therapy programmes for service users in education and CAMHS clinic settings
