COSTUME TECHNICIAN VACANCY
M&M Theatrical Productions have long been established as the UK’s largest producer of touring theatre in education, visiting over 6,500 Primary Schools annually with a variety of cross curricular and pantomime productions.
Our busy office based in Ayr KA8, houses a multi skilled team of both creative and administrative staff, working cohesively to ensure our highly respected brand and customer care continues to improve and maintain the highest of standards.
We are currently looking for an experienced Costume Technician to join our Artistic Team at an exciting time of growth, on a permanent basis. The current position is for a full time working 40 Hours per week Mon-Fri, however some occasional weekend work will be required at busy times.
The role:
- Oversee the care, repair, laundering and maintenance of all costumes, wigs and staff uniforms
- Maintain the inventory and database of all costumes, uniforms and sundries
- Assist in the sourcing, budgeting, shopping and ordering of all supplies related to the department
- Attend costume fittings and undertake all necessary alterations
- Design and construction of costumes from pattern
- Adding details and embellishment to shoes, hats, wigs and costumes
- Advise and issue laundering and basic repair instruction to touring teams
- Cleaning of work space and restocking of supplies and consumables
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years experience using various types of sewing machines and hand stitching
- Experience with cutting, sewing and manipulating a wide variety of fabric types
- Experience with fittings and alterations
- A knowledge or interest in theatrical design
- A basic knowledge of safe working procedures
Person Specification:
- Ability to work efficiently, both within a team and independently
- Calm under pressure, and can effectively prioritise, multi-task and work to tight deadlines
- A strong work ethic, with an enthusiastic and positive outlook
- Exceptional organisation skills with a keen eye for accuracy and attention to detail
Salary will be £20,800 per annum to include 28 days holiday & company pension scheme.
