Our specialist Legal Costs team have a new vacancy. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Costs Lawyer or a Costs Draftsperson working towards qualification to join our highly acclaimed Legal Costs team.
This would be an ideal position for someone with at least 6 months Legal Costs experience.
Your duties will include:
- managing a portfolio of costs files collectively with your team-members and conducting all aspects of advocacy, including CCMCs, interim applications, detailed assessments and appeals;
- drafting bills of costs, replying to points of dispute, and preparing costs budgets;
- internal training and reviewing the ongoing costs management process.
- Communicating with internal teams, barristers and opponents;
- Preparing written submissions justifying legal costs.
You will ideally:
- be a qualified costs lawyer or have a law degree, LPC and/or CILEX qualifications;
- have strong verbal and written communication skills;
- be hard working with good analytical and organisational skills to manage and prioritise a busy workload;
- be comfortable working to deadlines and targets;
- possess excellent IT skills particularly in relation to using Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word;
- have some relevant legal experience gained within a Costs team and previous experience as a Costs Lawyer will be highly advantageous, but not essential).
As this role requires someone with previous experience within this field, you will have a good understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules, and we will continue to support and develop your knowledge within Legal Costs.
