Role Requirements
To be successful you need to be an organised person who can work to strict deadlines. In addition, you must have good attention to detail and possess excellent communication skills. This position will be assisting the Costs Manager on a range of varied duties in relation to Personal Injury, Commercial Litigation, and Public Law cases, which include, but are not limited to:
Being responsible for managing your own caseload, under supervision, and keeping records files within the firm’s case management system;
Working closely with the accounts team to ensure good communication and ensuring that information is passed across departments, and to fee earners;
Drafting fixed fee and exceptional bills;
Liaising with fee earners as to deadlines for cases to conclude and ensuring that Legal Help bills are drafted, checked, and submitted within the Legal Aid timeframe;
Submitting outcomes and nil bills on CCMS;
Dealing with Legal Aid Payments on Account – both the disbursement POAs and profit costs POAs.
Keeping the central spreadsheet of all certificated matters to track POAs and ensuring that these are dealt with promptly;
Preparing and processing Claim 1’s and Claim 1A’s;
Processing Claim 2’s;
Corresponding with third parties - experts, counsel etc as necessary;
Uploading claims to the Legal Aid Agency;
Provide written updates by email or letter to clients detailing case activity to ensure that they receive up to date and accurate information about progress when requested;
Ensuring compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations;
Dealing with ad hoc projects and when required.
Key Skills Required
0 -1 years’ experience in drafting legal aid and Inter parties bills
Excellent analytical and organisational skills and ability to use own initiative but know when to seek guidance.
Excellent communications skills to work effectively with all types of people
Committed team player, self -motivated and professional
Excellent IT Skills
