We are seeking to appoint two effective, organised and efficient individuals as a Coroner’s Officers, on a full-time (37 hours per week), to join the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Coroner Service. These roles are both fixed term, position 1 to October 2024 and position 2 to April 2025. The role entails liaising directly on all aspects of sudden and unexpected deaths within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, and on occasion from elsewhere. The role includes acting as a principle liaison and point of contact between numerous external agencies and the families of the deceased.
The post is based at Lawrence Court in Huntingdon (no parking is provided), although working in Peterborough other Cambridgeshire locations will be required on occasions.
Applicants will be able to demonstrate an organised and efficient approach to work, with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Candidates will also be required to demonstrate excellent prioritisation capabilities. You must be proficient at using IT systems (including WORD, Outlook and EXCEL). You will be required to contribute positively to the effective running of the Coroner Service, and to deliver enhanced levels of service to bereaved families, and partner agencies
An understanding of the requirement for confidentiality is essential, as are good communication skills. The nature of this job requires the post holder to view deceased persons, photographs of deceased persons and to work directly with the recently bereaved. Occasionally they will also be required to attend post mortems. Post holders need to be aware of, and able to cope with all these requirements.

Normal working hours will be Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 4.00pm and Friday 8.00am to 3.30pm.
Salary on appointment is dependent on current relevant experience and skills.
