The opportunity
Due to significant business growth and broker acquisitions, we have a brand-new opportunity for a Group Financial Controller to join our growing Finance team, based in Guiseley on a hybrid basis. We are looking for a dynamic, solutions focussed individual with a real desire to deliver results.
Key areas of responsibility will include
- The accurate preparation, production and review of the monthly financial reporting for a portfolio of entities
- Ensuring the financial records for operational expenses for the Group are complete, accurate and free from material error
- Ownership for completing the Prepared by Client requirements (PBC) audit requests for your area of responsibility to agreed deadlines
- Responsible for reporting on key operational balance sheet controls. Taking action to mitigate any risk of material misstatement of the financial records and reports
Additional Duties
- Leading a team of management accountants in the production of the monthly financial reports for your portfolio of entities to tight reporting deadlines (per the month end timetable)
- Taking ownership for the reconciliation, review and sign-off of key balance sheet controls to agreed month end deadlines
- Provide high level monthly reporting on the status of key balance sheet controls and provide an early warning of any emerging risk
- Oversight and responsibility for the production of key general ledger reconciliation and lead schedules that support the efficient sign-off of the annual statutory audit. In particular the general ledger reconciliation for revenue and introducer expense for your portfolio of entities.
- To take the lead on centralising the operational finance activities of acquired companies into our central team. Plan and execute the finance integration activity so that the finance management and reporting requirements of the integrated company continue uninterrupted
- Develop a central knowledge library of key accounting policies and a high-level overview of key processes
- Act as a point of contact in the business to help with queries on operational expenses, to support an understanding of financial reporting
- Assist with the production of the tax packs to ensure the annual tax returns are complete and accurate
- Approval of bank payments in line with group policies
- Develop key metrics and variance reporting across finance operations and other operational business requirements.
What we’re looking for
- ACCA / CIMA / ACA qualified with ideally 4+ years of post-qualification experience
- A proven track record of good financial governance
- Experience of leading management accounts teams
- Experience with Microsoft Office software particularly Excel, Word, Power Point
- Able to demonstrate achieving success in a deadline and project driven environment and commitment to continuous improvement
- Ability to influence and build good working relationships with key stakeholders
- Able to work autonomously and flexibly
- Positive enthusiastic approach with a can-do attitude
