Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented person to join our accounting team as our Controller. As the Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing, managing, and performing all financial requirements of the company. You should be a team player who enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative environment and has comprehensive experience with QuickBooks. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, analyzing financial data, generating reports, and providing strategic guidance to the management team. You will report directly to the President & COO and will work daily with our Founder & CEO on all accounting and financial matters.
Accounting Team Structure:
The accounting team at elite | studio e consists of a Controller leading the team (this position), and a Project Accountant reporting to the Controller. The Project Accountant is responsible for AIA billing forms, customer invoicing, schedule of values, sales orders, purchase orders, and collections. The controller position will be responsible for overseeing this individual, his/her growth, and handling all day-to-day accounting and finance needs of the company.
Responsibilities:
The controller will be responsible for the overall accounting needs of the company. Specifically, this includes but is not limited to:
- Financial Management: Lead and manage the company’s accounting and finance functions, ensuring compliance, and generating standards and procedures for the team.
- Accounts Receivable oversight and coordination with Project Accountant.
- Accounts Payable including vendor bill entry, comparison to Purchase Orders, and working with ownership on bill payments and recording in QuickBooks.
- Auditing projects for accounting accuracy and working with Project Coordination team and Project Accountant on reconciling any issues.
- Employee Expense Reimbursement and Travel Expense Management.
- Client Reporting for those that require monthly and/or quarterly reporting.
- Client Rebate calculations and reporting.
- Employee incentive calculations and reporting.
- Monthly, Quarterly, and Job Ending Financial Closings. Prepare timely and accurate financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, job specific, and client specific reporting. Analyze and provide recommendations and guidance to management team.
- Bank Reconciliations.
- Sales Tax Management and Preparation through Avalara.
- Work with our 3rd Party Accountant on Corporate Tax Filings and any Audits.
- Oversight and development of accounting team, specifically the Project Accountant.
- WIP Reporting and Generation.
- General Journal Entries.
The position is in office full time with typical business hours of 9 AM – 5 PM Monday-Friday. This position is a “hands on” position with much of the data entry and physical work in QuickBooks being a requirement of the Controller.

Education and Experience
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field are required. Advanced degrees or certifications (CPA) are of benefit, but not required.
A minimum of 3 years of experience is required for this position. The ideal candidate has experience in the construction industry.
