THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, development of internal control policies and procedures, advising on financial risk management and working within the SLT to advise on best accountancy practice. The role requires the incumbent to combine keen attention to detail within the achievement of the broader corporate objectives.
REPORTS TO: The Board of Directors
LOCATION: Hybrid home and office in Leicester
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing general accounting oversight across all aspects of the accounting operations including A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting and revenue recognition
- Collaboration with the SLT in establishing, and documenting, effective processes and controls in relation to both revenue and costs
- Ensuring budgets, sales forecasts, cashflow forecasts and financial reports are produced in a timely manner complete with report variances
- Coordinating the preparation of regulatory reporting
- Ensuring month-end and year-end close processes are completed satisfactorily
- Maintaining quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Managing compliance with government and HMRC reporting requirements and filing of statutory accounts
- Providing executive management with accurate and comprehensive financial information to guide effective policy and financial decision making.
- Leading and motivating the finance team
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The financial controller will need to be able to clearly communicate financial information to the SLT and must have the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Candidates will have:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Confidence in liaising with Senior Management Team
- Excellent analytical and numerical abilities
- Sound business knowledge
- Accuracy and an eye for detail
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller in an SME environment
- Experience of managing financial teams
- Be able to demonstrate strong communication and analytical skills
- Proven track record of instigating and managing change.
