Salary: £32,020 to £34,723 per annum
Location: Chichester with hybrid working and ability to travel independently to our sites across West Sussex.
Contract: Permanent.
Working pattern: Full-time, 37 hours per week.
Employer Pension Contribution: 20.70%
Annual leave: 27 days holiday + Bank holidays = 35 days.
As a Contracts Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless operations within our waste department. Ensuring that all the County Council Waste sites are operating in accordance with their legislative and contractual requirements, and are safe.
You will work within the team to develop a comprehensive programme of contract performance, site auditing, monitoring and inspections. You will be in regular communication with contractors, to resolve any issues which arise from the audit and inspection programme.
You’ll maintain records of operational monitoring and quality controls predominantly on the Recycling and Waste Handling Contract, but also support the other waste contracts such as clinical waste and closed landfills. You’ll also assist on contingency event planning and implementation of the plan.
You will contribute as part of the wider waste team on the long-term vision and strategy for sustainable resource management for West Sussex, and seek future development and savings opportunities.
What we need from you:
- Computer literate to carry out research, analyse complex data, information and other documentation, produce reports and create electronic presentations.
- Demonstrate a professional approach with ability to provide clear advice with highly developed skills of negotiation and persuasion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to organise, prioritise and plan own workload and to supervise others to meet deadlines and targets.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience in carrying out audits or inspections within a legislative or contractual framework.
- Experience gained in a role involving multiple stakeholders, where working in partnership with contractors and partner organisations is critical in achieving service delivery.
- Experience of collating and interpreting complex information.
- Ability to establish credibility at all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
