About the Role

The Senior NFL Web Content Writer will write National Football League betting-centric content for BetMGM’s websites and blogs, including The Roar (https://sports.betmgm.com/en/blog).

Responsibilities

Required mastery of the following areas of knowledge/skills within 3 months:
- Sports wagering knowledge
- Comprehensive understanding of SEO in relation to BetMGM’s overall objectives
- Ability to publish autonomously in WordPress with near 0 errors and little oversight
- Become Google Analytics G4 certified and a Google Trends expert
- Master use of tools and resources applicable to your sport, including: BetQL, Bet Labs, Stathead, Remarkable – Inside Edge, NoteMarker, Football Outsiders, Pro Football Focus, and more
Must maintain subject-matter expertise on National Football League topics as assigned
Write and publish high-quality, SEO-focused sports content as assigned by Content Managing Editors and ad-hoc schedule when appropriate
Write and publish quick-hitting, time-sensitive SEO-centric articles as assigned by Content Managing Editors Be adept at getting quality blog content out rapidly as related to breaking news
Work closely with BetMGM’s dedicated SEO consultant and digital marketing agency to expand SEO knowledge and leverage them as a primary resource in answering search engine optimization questions
Contribute to BetMGM’s vast array of partnership websites as assigned
Maintain strict attention to details when writing to minimize copyediting time, including uploading all content into Grammarly (if needed) before sending to copyeditor to ensure highest level of quality and team efficiency
Adhere to internal style guide and write to the BetMGM tone of voice
Develop proficiency with Google Search Console within 6 months
Work within Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Teams as required
Work cross-functionally and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders upholding a high level of professionalism, respect, and ethical code of conduct at all times
Maintain active participation and presence in team and company activities, including but not limited to sharing ideas, brainstorming, identifying site errors if necessary, and asking questions in internal team meetings, all-hands meetings, and agency meetings
Maintain up-to-date knowledge about BetMGM’s current mission, overarching business goals, and the ever-changing sports wagering landscape

Essential Functions

Must be able to stand or sit and operate computers and other technological devices for extended periods of time

Qualifications

Deep knowledge of sports wagering vernacular and concepts, and willingness to learn more, are a must
Experience writing high-quality sports blog content
Extensive knowledge of the NFL
Experience working in sports publishing
Journalism, English, or another relevant field
Must be proficient in AP Stylebook
Minimum three years of experience publishing in WordPress
Willingness to learn new web tools, including Airtable and Looker Studio
Experience working in large organizations, coordinating, and liaising with multiple departments and stakeholders
Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively manage timelines and priority of projects over several internal teams
Experience presenting online and in person
Flexibility with working hours and the willingness to work evenings, weekends, public holidays, and major NFL events like the Super Bowl in line with company goals
Good communication, analytics, project management, writing, and organizational skills
Excellent analytical, proactive, and communication skills with a data-driven mindset
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and desire to continuously improve and develop professionally
Basic photo editing skills using tools like BeFunky and/or Photoshop are a plus
