Job description
BBC Sounds is the BBC’s digital audio platform bringing radio, music, and podcasts to our listeners wherever they are. The Content Discovery team sits at the heart of Sounds working closely with Editorial, Marketing, and Product to grow and retain our weekly audience. This role will be at the forefont of the digital transformation of radio – helping our linear stations think digital first.
Salford is the preferred location for this role but we would consider other locations if required
Main Responsibilities- You’ll develop new and innovative tactics and strategies to help grow BBC Sounds’ regular, weekly audience - trialling new ideas, figuring out what works (and what doesn’t) and establishing best practice
- You’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the BBC’s biggest radio brands and podcasts – delivering bigger audiences for these shows on BBC Sounds
- You’ll work closely and collaboratively with colleagues in Marketing, Social Media, Editorial, and Product to deliver multi-disciplinary projects and bring alignment on goals and ways of working
- You’ll use audience data to help inform the strategies and tactics you propose and, crucially, to report back clearly on success or lessons learned
- You will have demonstrable experience of growing the audience for a digital product
- You will be able to confidently lead complex digital projects made up of cross discipline teams and manage stakeholders with competing needs
- You will be an excellent communicator – able to explain data and complex ideas and projects in simple and compelling ways to a range of audiences
- You are data savvy – not afraid of a spreadsheet or a dashboard, you’ll be able to take audience data and use it to inform our plans for growing BBC Sounds
- You will have experience working collaboratively with product and engineering teams either as part of the team or working on digital projects together to meet audience needs
- You will likely have experience working within the radio, podcast or music industries
- You will be innovative – unafraid to try new things and able to learn lessons when those succeed or fail
- You will be tenacious – pushing new ideas forward in the face of old ways of working
- You will be committed to the BBC’s public service values and interested in how these apply across digital products
