Role Background
ITPEnergised’s Sustainable Finance team provides a range of strategy, policy, technical and environmental support services to the international development and donor community, as well as private sector operating in renewable energy and climate change. Our services range from project origination, feasibility through to services during design, construction and operation.
Our clients range from multilateral agencies such as the World Bank Group and the United Nations, through to Governments, industrial multinationals, renewable energy project developers, private equity firms, technology companies and investors. We are seeking to recruit Consultants to join our growing team, engaged on a variety of international projects.
Duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the lead of the Sustainable Finance team, you will primarily support the delivery of international development projects, including project origination and design, strategy and capacity development, stakeholder consultation, and evaluation and benchmarking. You will additionally support the delivery of wider environmental and social due diligence; stakeholder engagement and consultation; and environmental and social studies, as appropriate.
As a Consultant, you will be closely mentored and will receive additional internal and external training as appropriate and aligned with your needs. You will be exposed to the technical, project management and commercial aspects of consultancy on a phased introductory basis.
Your role will include the following areas:
- Review and research of national and international legislation and policy.
- Global Environmental Facility (GEF) and Green Climate Fund (GCF) project proposal development
- Support for stakeholder engagement and management.
- Technical delivery and management of tasks and projects; aligned to technical expertise and capabilities.
- Preparation of reports and presentations, including analysis and presentation of data.
- Taking responsibility for managing your own workload and highlight to your line manager and colleagues to identify any capacity in your work schedule.
Person Specification
While we recognize every candidate has their own unique set of skills and experience, we feel the ideal candidate for this role should be able to demonstrate knowledge of, or have experience in the following skills and attributes:
- Ideally, a first degree in a numerate discipline (engineering), followed by a Master’s degree in Sustainable development.
- Broad understanding of sustainable development in an international context, and of UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- Experience and understanding of the work of donor agencies and impact investing, particularly the work of global funds, including the GEF and GCF. Demonstrated experience in the development of successful project proposals for GEF and the GCF would be an advantage.
- Strong communication and presentation skills. Experience of stakeholder engagement would be an advantage.
- Developed organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing deliverable deadlines.
- Projects are typically delivered in English, however the ability to work in other languages, particularly French, would be considered a distinct advantage.
- Experience of working in a consultancy environment would also be advantageous
Your work location is up to you! We are big believers in flexible working, and that includes working from home. If you prefer an office environment, we have offices in Edinburgh. Glasgow, London and Bristol, and we are happy to talk about hybrid working patterns.
You may be asked to attend meetings at our office locations, or travel to clients’ offices or sites as project work requires. This may include international travel, where necessary.
Outline Remuneration Offer
- Salary: DOE (agreed salary to be based on skills and experience)
