NHS Consultant Histopathologist – East England
Triple West Medical has been assigned by an NHS Trust based in the East of England to help them recruit a Consultant in Histopathology. This is a replacement full time post and the successful applicant would join a team of 20 consultants. Over the next 5 years our aim is to undertake an ambitious recruitment program to develop strong specialist, academic and research activity with existing and evolving opportunities within the Trust and University. Their vision is to create a
large and diverse department to provide individuals with personalised and flexible working patterns to support their professional interests and development.
The Histopathology team work in a purpose built modern, light and airy building on a green field site which has been commended for its design and infrastructure by external assessors. It is next to the research park and university campus in close proximity to the sports park equipped with a gym and pool. Each consultant has their own office with up to date IT equipment including voice-recognition software.
An office, microscope, PC (and wireless access) and shared secretarial support will be provided. All the usual routine, special staining, immunofluorescence and immunoperoxidase and fluorescent in-situ hybridization (FISH) methods are available. Sections for electron microscopy are prepared at a nearby hospital. The laboratory uses Labtrak LIMS and provides electronic results to locals hospitals
and PCTs via ICE. Electronic specimen requesting via ICE is largely rolled out. Proforma reporting using electronic versions of the RCPath minimum datasets are in use. Consultants are expected to use voice recognition for routine reporting. Electronic records are available back to 1989. A local Biorepository which contains the cellular pathology archive and centralizes receipt and storage of specimens from the Research Park was opened recently.
Exfoliative and fine needle aspiration cytology samples are provided by many different medical and surgical disciplines, although there is no requirement for on-site medical or laboratory staff at these clinics.
