The successful applicants will be offered the opportunity to work closely with the existingNeonatal Pediatrician/ Neonatologistsin the Trust to provide a high standard of care across the Trust. We are seeking consultants with enthusiasm, commitment, and drive to work closely with colleagues throughout the organisation and within the community to help lead the organisation.
This is an excellent opportunity to join the Neonatology department at the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The successful candidate will join a service that prides itself in effective leadership, innovative thinking, and excellent teamwork.

The post comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs) and includes an on-call commitment of 1:6 exclusive for the Local Neonatal Unit. There is no Acute pediatric commitment to this post.
This is a whole time equivalent substantive Neonatal consultant post, and the successful applicant will share the responsibilities for providing acute neonatal care at the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage. Outpatient clinics are based at the Lister Hospital and QE 2 Hospital in Welwyn Garden City. Our Neonatal unit is a local neonatal unit (LNU) part of East of England (EOE) Neonatal Network.
The post holder with join the 5 Neonatal consultants in the delivery of neonatal care and participate in 1:6 on call rota including weekends. There will be no Acute Paediatric commitments. The Neonatal consultant responsibilities include but not limited to:
1. The provision of inpatient care & outpatient
2. The development and delivery of the neonatal services at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust
3. The supervision and training of junior medical staff, including the advanced neonatal nurse practitioner, in the care of sick babies on the neonatal unit and the resuscitation of babies in the maternity unit (Consultant Led Unit and Midwife Led Unit)
4. Be available to advise the maternity team on matters concerning the care of babies
5. Work collaboratively with Acute Paediatric team, Maternity and Nursing team.
6. Clinical governance and compliance with the Trust’s requirements in clinical governance
7. Work collaboratively with clinicians within the East of England Operational Delivery Network (ODN) in the planning, delivery, and monitoring of neonatal care
