Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of tanker vessels, including voyage planning, cargo handling, and vessel performance monitoring.
- Ensure strict compliance with international and local regulations governing safety, security, pollution prevention, and cargo handling.
- Coordinate and facilitate vessel chartering activities, negotiating contracts, reviewing charter party agreements, and ensuring the smooth execution of voyage plans.
- Implement and maintain safety management systems (SMS) and environmental management systems (EMS) on board vessels, conducting inspections, investigations, and audits to identify and address potential hazards and non-conformities.
- Provide training and development opportunities for vessel crews, ensuring they possess the necessary skills, certifications, and knowledge to carry out their duties safely and efficiently.
- Monitor and analyze vessel performance data, generate reports, and identify areas for improvement to optimize operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Act as a focal point for emergency response and crisis management, coordinating with relevant authorities, stakeholders, and response teams to mitigate risks and ensure crew safety.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration among internal and external stakeholders, including shipowners, charterers, port authorities, and technical teams.
- Sailing experience as Chief Officer or Master.
- Extensive experience in tanker operations, preferably with a focus on oil, crude, or chemical tankers.
- In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations and industry best practices.
- Strong understanding of safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using relevant software and systems for vessel operations and data analysis.
- Willingness to travel and work in diverse locations and time zones.
