Position Summary
The Computer Technician I’s key responsibilities are:
1. Build, configure, and test, system builds,
2. Assemble hardware components and sub-assemblies in accordance with assembly instructions and procedures,
3. Configure and troubleshoot Embed's supported hardware and software, and
4. Lead by example and adhere to and help Installation team members adhere to prescribed policies and procedures. This involves working with Installation team members, and other departments to not only solve technical and non-technical problems but also, consult with Installation team members to implement workarounds to deliver timely, consistent, and technically sound solutions
Key Responsibilities
Individual:
- Build, configure, and test system builds, also known as, the setup process
- Assemble hardware components and sub-assemblies in accordance with assembly instructions and procedures
- Configure, troubleshoot, and test Embed's supported hardware and software
- Configure, troubleshoot, and test network infrastructure including switches, routers, wireless access points, etc.
- Complete project checklists and tasks to meet the system build expected shipment date
- Prepare and pack system builds for shipment
- Partner with Installation and Project Manager/Coordinator to set system build priorities
- Adapt to changing system build priorities to meet the system build expected shipment date
- Document system build assembly instructions and procedures (if required)
- Configure system builds with proprietary and non-proprietary software and services
- Maintain up-to-date awareness in the latest hardware and software applications and share ideas with others to improve performance, reliability, and functionality of our products and services
- Contribute to special projects for the continuous improvement of installation processes, installation guides, and system build checklists and tasks
- Partner with Installation, Training, and Support team members to create and update technical procedures and knowledge base articles
- Responsible for self-developing skills and technical knowledge on existing and new products and features
- Partner with Installation team members to look for and implement new methods to automate, simplify, and streamline the setup process
KPIs:
- Achieve individual KPIs and help Installation team members achieve group KPIs (we are one team)
- Achieve service levels in accordance with customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Leadership:
- Lead by example and adhere to and help Installation team members adhere to prescribed policies and procedures
- Recommend system build best practices to improve the setup process
- Work with Installation team members, and other departments to not only solve technical and non-technical problems but also, consult with Installation team members to implement workarounds to deliver timely, consistent, and technically sound solutions
Required Skills and Experience
- 1-2 years’ experience working in a fast-paced corporate environment is preferred
- Associate degree in Computer Science is preferred or equivalent education/work experience
- Basic understanding and working experience with Windows OS, SQL, networking, TCP/IP, .NET, and PCI Compliancy requirements
- Highly organized and a meticulous attention to detail
- Continuous improvement mindset and an openness to new approaches and solutions to enhance the setup process
- Can understanding and learning complex technical topics quickly
- Self-motivated with a passion for IT and the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
- Basic level in using software deployment tools
- Expert level in communicating both written (grammar and punctuation) and verbal
- Good at troubleshooting, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
Special Requirements
- While performing the Key Responsibilities, ability to:
- Stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time
- Bend, squat, kneel, and lift heavy objects greater than 50 lbs (23 kg) if required
- Work on ladders (if required)
- Use hand tools and power tools
