Job Advert: Risk and Compliance Manager

Who We Are:

The Underwritten Warranty Company Ltd (UWC) is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. UWC brokers between three consumer protection schemes who operate within the home improvement sector and the insurer in order to provide consumers with deposit protection and insurance backed guarantees. It also handles any claims from consumers related to a particular insurer.

Main responsibilities

Due to continued growth, we are looking to for the right person to lead our risk and compliance function and report directly to the Managing Director (SMF3). You will be responsible for:

· Compliance advice and monitoring.

· Maintenance of regulatory policies and procedures.

· Oversight of SMCR .

· Creation of quarterly governance packs.

· Submission of FCA regulatory returns and communications via the FCA Regdata and Connect systems.

· Regulatory change projects.

· Reviewing marketing and financial promotions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

· Managing the risk management framework (including risk register)

· Oversight and monitoring of outsource agreements with third party organisations.

· Management of the compliance calendar

· Delivery of regulatory training

· Ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act.

Our Ideal Candidate will have

· Demonstrable hands-on experience working in a senior risk and compliance position, within a FCA authorised firm. Experience of Insurance is desirable but not essential.

· Detailed knowledge of regulatory requirements and a sound understanding of the FCA handbook.

· Knowledge of data protection legislation and its application.

· Ability to analyse and interpret legislation and regulation and provide a clear summary of issues in a non-technical way.

· Experience of risk management frameworks.

· The ability to plan work and meet deadlines.

· Highly developed communication skills – written and verbal.

· Organisation Skills - You should be organised in your approach, with the ability to assess what the priorities are and manage your time accordingly.

· A methodical and logical approach

· Ability to work cross functionally with other departments.

· Please note you must live within a 40-minute commute of our offices in Leyland, Lancashire
