Job Summary:
We are currently seeking an experienced Risk and Compliance Solicitor to join a dynamic team in Manchester. As a Risk and Compliance Solicitor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards within this organization. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including legal teams, management, and external bodies, to proactively identify and mitigate risks while maintaining a strong compliance culture.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective risk management and compliance programs within the organization.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation, regulatory changes, and industry best practices to ensure compliance with legal and ethical requirements.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments, identify potential vulnerabilities, and develop strategies to address them.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on risk management and compliance-related matters.
- Develop and deliver training programs to promote compliance awareness and best practices throughout the organization.
- Review and revise internal policies, procedures, and contracts to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
- Conduct internal audits and investigations to identify and rectify non-compliance issues.
- Collaborate with external legal advisors, regulatory bodies, and industry organizations to stay informed about emerging risks and compliance obligations.
- Assist with the management of any regulatory inspections, audits, or inquiries.
- Stay updated on data protection and privacy laws and provide guidance on data privacy compliance.
- Support the development and implementation of systems and tools to enhance risk assessment and compliance monitoring processes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 4 years PQE in a relevant legal field.
- Strong knowledge of risk management principles, compliance frameworks, and legal obligations.
- Experience in working within an ABS or similar legal services structure is highly desirable.
- Exposure to in-house legal contracts work would be advantageous, but not essential.
- Sound understanding of consumer legal services and associated regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify and assess potential risks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing regulations and industry trends.
- A commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards and promoting a culture of compliance within the organization.
