Nursing Direct are looking for Healthcare Assistants (HCA) with Learning Disability experience to work with a gentleman with a diagnosis of severe learning disabilities, congenital spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, scoliosis of the spine, dysphagia, gastro diagnosis requiring PEG, sleep apnoea, auditory neuropathy, and cerebral visual impairment – providing care in their home in the Salisbury area.

Healthcare Assistant / HCA duties in this role:

- Full assistance to communicate though nonverbal commination, mix of Makaton/BSL and use of his eye gaze.
- Full assistance with moving and handling needs, repositioning, hoisted for all transfers and wheelchair dependent. (2:1 for hoisting)
- Full assistance to maintain personal care. Dressing and selecting suitable clothing for weather, requires support to regulate his body temperature. Full support with oral care, shaving, bathing, and washing)
- Full assistance for all nutritional and hydrations requirements via PEG/some oral fluids.
- Full assistance to access the community.
- Monitoring of breathing, full assistance to set up CPAP overnight.
- MINIMUM of 1 months UK Complex/ Learning Disability Healthcare experience
- MUST hold a UK Right to Work Document
- MUST be hardworking and adaptable by responding quickly to changes
- MUST be passionate about high quality individual and teamwork

Hours:

- Monday – Sunday (flexible shift work and on timings)
- Shadow shifts provided
